From a teen's perspective

As a 14-year-old Christian with an interest in missions, I found the concept of the book entertaining, but it did remind me of something I might've read at 9 or 10. If your child enjoys reading series like the Boxcar Children, Capital Mysteries, A to Z Mysteries, Mandie, etc., but would prefer a faith slant, I would definitely recommend this book! I did enjoy the overall concept, but at my age this series is a bit juvenile, and I noticed the mystery aspect wasn't as intense or in-depth as it might've been in the aforementioned series. The author didn't appear to be very experienced, but it wasn't bad or difficult reading at all. I would definitely be interested in fiction like this but in a longer book and perhaps more in depth and with a more complicated mystery aspect at my age. I hope this has been a help!

Intriguing International Adventure!

This book was amazing. There was just so much to the story and it kept me interested through the entire thing. Let's begin with explaining the members of the "Reel Kids Adventure Club". First, there's Warren (he's the adult in the group), and then the kids: Jeff & Mindy (who are brother & sister) and K.J. All 3 kids go to the same high school, where Warren is the head of the school's communications department. The club's purpose is to go to foreign countries and film what they see and do (that is where the "Reel" comes into the club's name). When they come back home, they'll share what they learned, to other kids at their high school, especially concerning the country's religion, which was the main focus of the international trip. In this book, the team is off to Cuba. Leaving all just and fair laws about religion back in the United States, the Reel Kids are constantly being pestered by the Cuban officials, every inch of the trip. They want to tell people about Christianity and lead new people to Jesus Christ, but of course, those ideas are all foiled by Cuba's strong laws. Plus, the secret police could be on the look-out at any time and place. The team is allowed to give speeches in front of a church congregation, but everything the Reel Kids do is being watched by authorities somehow, which makes matters very complicated. As the trip wears down to the end, the Real Kids aren't even for sure if they'll be let out of the country to return home! All that they know is that God is on their side.
