Good Read

I read this book a couple of times and it was a very interesting read. How factual it is, I don't know, how truthful it is I don't know. This I do know. Anyone who doesn't stop and ask yourself,"Could this assassination have happened this way", needs to realize that this actually could have happened this way. We are so bombarded with propaganda by one sided media newspapers and magazines, such as "The Los Angeles Times" and "Time" magazine it's ridiculous! The American public has been known and accused of believing whatever the media throws at us. For example: the "Kennedy Assassination". When you watch the Zapruder film and you see Kennedy shot from the front and the bullet exit through the back of his head. People today still insist he was shot by "The Lone Assassin" Lee Harvey Oswald. Rifle expert after rifle expert couldn't pull off that many shots from top of the line rifles. But according to the good ole U.S. government Lee Harvey did with one of the worst malfunctioning rifles ever manufactured. Sheep to the slaughter is what the Lincoln Assassination and the Kennedy Assassination remind me of. This book to me was very well written, in my opinion, and its worth taking the time to read it.

This book is right on the Mark! Buy it if you can find it!

Some people find a lot of faults with the theories contained in this book. I agree with ever word! Lincoln was basiclly murdered for the same reason Kennedy was- too many greedy politicians and businessman were making money off of two wars 100 years apart, and they didn't want the money flow to end, and when these greedy [people] saw that these two great presidents were going to end these idiotic bloodbaths, they arranged to have them killed; purely and simply! This book, once you read it 2 or 3 times, will horrify you because you will see what a truly great man Lincoln was, and what wonderful things he could have done for this country, very possibly with a third term in the white house;. But as hard as it is to find, try anyway-it's well worth it; it's fascinating reading!

Abraham Lincoln: The Second Messiah

I found Charles Balsinger's "The Lincoln Conspiracy" to be one of the most eye-opening books about the post-Civil War nation and the untimely death of this nation's greatest president. In a country where children are taught that Christopher Columbus was Satan, Indians saved the Pilgrims from starvation, and John Wilkes Booth died in a tobacco barn in Virginia, this book is a refreshing change of pace from scholastic stupididity and misinformation. Thanks to interviews, journal accounts and other historical documents, we see it all. We see Lincoln in his final days, tired, depressed, and seeing his own end in a dream. We see Booth not as a rogue madman but as a careful and conniving individual representing the interest of four organizations that wanted to see Lincoln out of the White House by any means necessary. We see the conspiracy that allowed such a brutal murder to go unreported, unpunished, the wrong man to be killed and crowned Booth, and many innocent parties tried, killed, and imprisoned by a kangaroo court. But most of all we see the human side of each player rather than dry facts in a textbook; we see them succeed, fail, live, die, persevere, and learn what happened to everybody once the dust settles. The illustrations tell the story the text can't--photos of the players, the theater box Lincoln was shot in, the house where he died, and (my personal favorite) the grotesque mummy of the Oklahoma man who confessed as he died that he killed Lincoln, guaranteed to cause chills and nightmares.I have used this book for both oral reports on the Lincoln assassination and as source material in my novelette "Good Friday 1865: The Death of the Second Messiah", a historical fiction piece about Lincoln's murder, Booth's escape to Zekiah Swamp and the part a strange half-breed slave girl plays in the drama. In short, history buffs and conspiracy theorists alike will love "Lincoln Conspiracy" and, likie me, read their copies to tatters.
