Wagon's Ho-o!

The Journey West, the first book in the California Pioneer Series, starts out with a tragic loss in a young girls life and takes its readers through her journey of mourning, as Abby learns the meaning of the word "courage". Throughout the book she trys to understand why her Uncle and his family lean so heavily on their faith in God. Abby eventually has to choose between a marriage to someone that she doesn't love, or become an emigrant on a long journey to California by wagon train; her only two choices! Abby also learns what it means to "steal fire from heaven" as she discovers who she really loves! Elaine Schulte is an author who has a way of painting word pictures that make you feel like you are a part of the exciting events taking place. I really enjoyed the book and couldn't hardly put it down!
