4.0 out of 5 stars Geez, lighten up...it's a great book!, March 30, 2009 By Anu Gerweck "avsavsavs" (Wakefield, MA) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME) so i got this book (hardcover) at a discount store (bldg 19 for those of you in new england) and was floored with the brilliance and simplicity of the story. the narrator believes the kid across the street has it made. sometimes we fantasize about other people's lives...it's normal. kids do it. you do it. does that mean you're pathetic? does that mean you can't lead a normal, productive, happy life? 'course not. for those of you who NEED a lesson, try this: after reading the book to you're child, go back and think of all the hardship each scenario might result in (i.e. shark in bedroom = smelly, wet bedroom. not going to school on rainy days = getting behind in school and not advancing to the next grade with your classmates.) ya gotta lighten up to enjoy this book. my 5 year old loves this book and so do i.
