Thank God for The Goddess

We will be able to rejoice when Goddess books such as this reach all best sellers lists. As this book so clearly points out we (meaning most of the world's population) have forgotten The Goddess and Her Central Place in our lives and the life of the planet. Climate change is how we are being reminded to bring The Goddess back to life in our lives. This book is a profound and beautiful Goddess Bible. Read it and weep...

Good introduction to the Goddess with many relevant pictures

I'm no scholar, just a spiritual seeker seeking to find out more about the Divine Feminine in my own life. "The Goddess: Power, Sexuality, and the Feminine Divine" really helped me along this path. It is enlightening to see how the feminine has been defined over the years (this book covers thousands) and by many different cultures around the world. It is a very good quick reference when wanting to look up a certain goddess, her story, and what her physical manifestation looked like to the people of her culture. I really liked the deconstruction of the Song of Solomon and how its imagery relates to other near east cultures/pantheons of the day. This has really helped explain to me how this book of the bible might have been inspired. The only criticism I would give this book is that it could have had more goddesses listed. Not all Celtic, Norse, Minoan or Greek goddesses are listed, but the major ones are covered. I also thought the author could have used a picture of one of the extant statues of Diana/Artemis at Ephesus instead of a very badly rendered 16th century artists' representation of the statue. I give this 4/5 stars for its use purely as a reference book alone.
