One Of Those Rare Gems

This is one of those rare obscure titles that just leave you feeling...(sigh) wistful. Sometimes it made me laugh out loud, sometimes it made me cry. And a few times I was doing both! Humiliated after being left at the altar, Patti and best friend/cousin Kate use the non-refundable honeymoon in Hawaii to deal with the loss. Having lost her parents at the age of five, Kate knows that regardless of how deeply you may love someone, you can still lose them. Then she meets Jack and, determined not to engage her heart, she uncharacteristically engages in a fling. Jack lost his mom when he was eleven. Not wanting to love and be hurt like that again, he throws himself into his work. Until Dad presents a challenge Jack can't refuse--masquerade as a glorified cabana boy for ten days. If he does it successfully, his Dad will retire and leave the resort to Jack. But Jack doesn't know his father has an ulterior motive for the masquerade. Having fallen in love with ALL the characters, I can only hope there will be a sequel (or three) to this.

I COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN

OMG! A Must read book for any die hard romantic! I started reading this book and I never put it down last night! I read the whole book in 6 hours! I was so into the book and the characters. This is a very romantic book and a very easy read! You'll just love it!

the perfect escape read

This is a book you will love to read again and again. The plot is predictable, yet fun--Kate is helping Patti get over Roger by going to Hawaii on what would have been the honeymoon. On the plane they meet Cherry, who becomes their friend, and they all end up at this beautiful resort in Maui (you feel like you are there too). Then Kate meets Jack, who she thinks is a bartender at the resort. This is very entertaining for the reader, because we know Jack's real identity, and we also know that sooner or later he'll have to tell her the truth. It's an easy read that will have you hooked until the end. It has its funny moments (at one point Jack thinks his dad has a crush on Kate) and romantic moments (candlelight picnic near the pools or sunrise at the volcano). This book will help you appreciate those you love and keep you from taking your relatives and loved ones for granted. I highly recommend The Fling to anyone who wants a romance novel that's also a perfect escape vacation.

Finally, YES, a book again worth buying and keeping.

Finally I have read a book that was worth it.I have read so many of these romance novels and lately none of them have either suprised me or made me honestly laugh when they were supposed to be funny,or even care for the characters. My thoughts were more:" Who cares, move on."I have been deeply disappointed in what these popular authors are putting out lately. Who are they kidding? No thoughts and affords are put into their stories anymore. But this book has it all. Humor/Laughter, sizzle, fun plot and really great scenery. All in all believeable. The author does not linger too long on the problmes or situation each character is having or going through but enough to make it fun and believeable. I am so happy to have read this book and recommend it very much. Sure in the end the story in these romance novels is always the same. Boy meets girl and sex, romance and a happy end. But why not? She at least put enough spin and humor into the story that you can buy into it and enjoy the ride. And the author is really good in setting the scenery and mood.SO, enjoy this book. Again...no brainer but these books are not there to teach though to entertain us and allow us to dream on.I was really ready to book myself a ticket to Mauii... ;-)

Good reading here!

...As one couple handles romantic dilemas, Patti and Cherry work to find their places in life and make their dreams come true. Whether or not they involve romance remains to be seen (hopefully in future books!) **** This lively, quick paced and humorous novel will appeal to a broad spectrum of fans. There is a strong "chick lit" element focusing on the women and their relationships, yet the romance is in no way lessened by this. Jack is in no way a beta male, as is usually the case with a women's fiction book. Some readers might be bothered that the sexual relationship started so quickly between two strangers. One major flaw in the book is though that despite the fact that Kate was always trying to collect recipes, none are provided at the back of the book, and you will be craving chocolate chip cookies before the end of THE FLING. **** Reviewed by Amanda...
