A Spiritual Classic

This book first came out in 1948 and has been reprinted several times since then. It has been translated into several languages and also been turned into a play. The author was a close friend and associate of Kahlil Gibran who wrote The Prophet. The Book of Mirdad is a beautiful story containing much wisdom, which has been an inspiration to many. I am so glad it is back in print again after being hard to find for several years. This book has gone around the world and has been recommended by spiritual groups as diverse as the School of the Golden Rosycross (Lectorium Rosicrucianum) in the west and Radha Soami Satsang in the east.

Mirdad-An unfaililng helmsman within

This story of a monastery is very sybolic representation of every soul in search and quest for the ultimate truth of being, which lies hidden within and reveals itself to the adventourous spirit who shakes off everything that binds him to the appearnce-the external play of 'Maya'to put it into the vedic term.Time spent in reading this book is like setting out on that inner journey of soul in a constant company of That invisible helmsman within.

I'd like to know people who love Mirdad

The book is simply beautiful. I take sides with "Zaven Laleyan" and would love to hear from him/her. Light the path with love and care. This is Mirdad's message. Too obvious but often ignored.Don't miss it.

For those who yearn to overcome

In his aphorisms and parables book "Vineyard by the Road" Naimy said the following to the reader: " Don't blame if today I addressed my words to another and not to you. I will talk to you in the 30th or 40th century ". Naimy has all time and great patience. In The Book of Mirdad, a clear warning is placed that the Book is not for everyone but " for those who yearn to overcome. Let all others Beware of it! ". For the Book contains a heavy dose of spirituality, materialists may be alergic to such potent medicine. Initiates and Seekers of the truth will find in the Book a treasure and a constant companion. Mikhail Naimy (1889 - 1988), had a very rich and interesting life, a close friend and biographer of Kahlil Gibran, a soldier in the american army during the first world war in europe, holder of law and arts degrees from the University of Washington in seattle, mastered Arabic, Russian, Ukranian, French and English languages, wrote in arabic more than 29 original books (most of them not yet published in other languages, and all of them of very high calibre comparable to Rumi, Hesse and Tolstoy). Mirdad was written in the english language and is reprinted regularly in the west. Enjoy the Sacred Wine!

One of the best books on the Spiritual Path...........

"The Book of Mirdad" has potent allusions to the Ultimate Reality. This is probably one of the very few places where words serve their true purpose - to try to generate interest in us to strive to tread the path that takes us back where we came from. Reading it was a truly rewarding experience . Truly a Lighthouse and a Haven.
