A great suspense novel

From the first page to the last, this was a real suspense book. Without giving too much of the story away, it's about a high-class lawyer who lives alone with her daughter. She then started to get these weird and threatening phone calls, which then turned into things that were far more serious. As the story goes on, twists and turns await the reader, and blood is spilled and fingers are pointed. There isn't much else to say about this book other than the fact that Barbara Parker is a genious when it comes to writing suspense novels. Be sure to check out her other novels!

Bring Back Anthony!

For a smart woman Gail isn't always too bright but it's nice to have a strong female character instead of a wimp. The characters are well developed. But please, bring Anthony back! The chemistry between Gail and Anthony adds to the enjoyment of the plot.

Heart-stopping page-turner!

Wow! Barbara Parker does it again ... this time even more exciting than her earlier books, which were superb. Witty and full of intrigue, the book moves with speed and turns that would make a class-four rapids blush. This is a book that is hard to beat!

Barbara Parker gets better with each new book

This fourth installment in the legal thrillers featuring attorneys Gail Connor and Anthony Quintana is a compelling read--an intriguing story line involving an-increasingly determined stalker, characters that come alive on each page, and a surprise ending that leaves you waiting for the hoped-for next installment. The author makes Miami and its Anglo and Cuban-American residents come alive, while adding further wrinkles to the complicated relationship between her two protagonists. When you finish this book, if you haven't already read the three others in the series (Suspicion of Innocence, Suspicion of Guilt, and Suspicion of Deceit), do so to quadruple your reading pleasure.

Gail Connor proves there is more than one Parker

It started with a crank phone caller calmly informing litigating lawyer Gail Connor that he plans to kill her. Gail didn't think much of the disturbance, figuring it was the teenager next door, who she threw out of her yard that same night. Besides Gail has more pressing concerns. Her new home needs so many repairs the Red Cross would declare it a disaster area. Her ex-husband Dave, who deserted her and their daughter to go sailing in the Caribbean, suddenly wants custody. Her eleven-year old daughter Karen seems to not only be growing up too fast, but is also very confused because of the animosity going on with her parents with her in the middle. Finally, Gail plans to marry her new love Anthony Pedrosa. However, the phone call turns out to be just the start of a horrible nightmare. Someone, with insider knowledge, is raising the level of terrorism. He now stalks Karen with motives that may be unclear but obviously malevolent. Gail knows that she will risk her life and her happiness to insure her beloved child remains safe. Barbara Parker has already gained much acclaim for her legal thrillers, starring Gail Connor. However, the latest entry, SUSPICION OF BETRAYAL, is her best novel to date because the story line comes at the reader from three different but integrated levels. The look into the justice system is complex and intriguing. The glimpse into Gail's personal life adds dimension and humanization. The stalkerprovides entertaining action. All three roll together into a well designed plot that will make readers realize that there are two fabulous mystery writers named Parker are providing superb stories.Harriet Klausner
