the real great American past time

I have enjoyed Angell's books before, especially love Drive me Crazy. But I must say this goes up there with the top enjoyable reads of 2006. I really love her down to earth characters, Angell's pulse on males being males not OTT hero material. I am definitely on pre-order for the next books in the series. Sassy, sexy, savvy...can't be that.

A Sexy Baseball Romance That Really Scores

Kate Angell's Squeeze Play is lime-a-licious! So summer-y and sexy. Hot sexual tension, yummy baked goods, and a bat pack of baseball hunks is enough to make any girl's temp rise, including Jacy Grayson, owner of Jacy's Java in the small town of Frostproof, Florida. When pro baseball player Risk Kincaid, star of the Richmond Rogues, returns to his hometown during the off-season, he's also hoping to reignite the fire with his high school sweetheart, Jacy. What he doesn't count on is his baseball pals tagging along, creating fun and mayhem--and competition for Jacy's attention. Rounding out the cast is Jacy's best gal pal, Stevie Cole, baseball trivia whiz, who gets a surprise of her own when her baseball b.f. returns to town. The town of Frostproof reminds me of county fairs, cherry icees, corn-on-the-cob, and, of course, baseball hunks. Angell has captured the essence of summer in her fun, sexy, delish novel. The perfect read for a hot summer day. Her characters vibrate with a sexual energy that stimulates and satisfies, yet she balances the sexual tension with wonderful characters who feel like old friends. I cared what happened to them beyond the bedroom. Like slipping on an old pair of comfy jeans and splurging on a swirly vanilla ice-cream cone, Squeeze Play is finger-lickin' good. I loved it and look forward to the next book in the series!

Angell Fan

After winning the World Series, professional baseball player, Risk Kincaid, returns to Frostproof, Florida to make long-time lover, Jacy Grayson, his wife. Fun, sexy, afternoon read. Lots of romance and enough baseball to satisfy sports fans. I look forward to the next book in the Richmond Rogues series.

Delicious Romantic Comedy

Reading Kate Angell's SQUEEZE PLAY, I can honestly say you don't need to be a baseball fan to thoroughly enjoy the games she plays in her the initial installment of this new series featuring the ballplayers of the `Richmond Rogues' . Risk Kincaid had it all going for him, baseball super-hero with all the perks that went with it - fame, fortune and the fans. It was all a great `turn-on' that got old fast, when the one thing and the one person who was his greatest turn-on was one sassy, sexy and free spirit named Jacy Grayson back in his hometown of Frostproof. She'd been his re-bound lover for the last 12 years and whenever she'd call, he was ready, willing and able to come to her aid to help her put back the pieces of her broken heart. Only this time, he knew without a doubt, that being her re-bound lover wasn't enough for him, he wanted to be a full-time lover, but more importantly a full-time husband. Now the biggest game in his life would be to convince her to say yes! *** The double entendres flow faster in this romantic comedy, than the cups of hot coffee served non-stop at Jacy's Java Café! Kate Angell comes up with a solid premise for this new series with a full complement of hot, sexy and sometimes thoroughly demented baseball players who all play many games but really just want to come up as winners in the game of love! Angell paints a lovely picture of Jacy as a darling, sassy, sexy and unconventional young woman who lets Risk think he's helping her rebound from a broken heart when he's the only one she's really pining away for. Angell's characters are very well developed and charming to the point that you can't wait to see them all score big in the biggest game of all - love. This is a fast, sexy, and fun read that you'll want to devour in one sitting and hope it doesn't take too long to see the next Richmond Rogue succumb!

4.5 Stars!

Richard "Risk" Kincaid, pro baseball player, has been crazy for Jacy since high school. But he knows that she only sees him as a friend. Risk is the one Jacy calls whenever she breaks up with a guy. He is her "rebound lover". Now that the World Series is over, Risk looks forward to returning to his hometown. Each year a weekend charity event takes place. Risk plans to use this time to get closer to Jacy's heart. Jacy Grayson owns the local coffee shop and has been just as crazy about Risk. She even pretends to have relationships and break ups just to have a reason to call Risk and have him come back to her bed and ease her broken heart. But how will she ever get the guts to tell him the truth? And will he hate her for it? Stephanie "Stevie" Cole can't be beat when it comes to baseball trivia. Stevie has had her eyes on another pro baseball player, Aaron Grayson. Everyone in town has known it for years. She looks forward to the baseball season ending and Aaron coming back to town, and to her. But this time Aaron comes home with a horrid fiancée and humiliates Stevie in the most public way possible. Zen Driscoll was practically kidnapped by his teammate, Risk, and forced to help out with the charity weekend. That is how he meets the curvy and fascinating Stevie. But Stevie wants only Aaron. ***** This is like reading two novels in one. Though Risk and Jacy are the main characters, Stevie and Zen are given almost as much time in the spotlight. But don't worry, this only means you are guaranteed to have something going on at all times. I found the secondary characters, the towns people, to be believable and lovable. Author Kate Angell definitely succeeded in letting the flavor of small town seep through. Highly enjoyable! ***** Reviewed by Detra Fitch of Huntress Reviews.
