A Good Beginning...

This book is a good introduction to the history and practice of social work in Canada, written by a professor of Social Work (Carleton University, Ottawa Ontario). There are many contributors to the text, which tends to provide the reader with a 'balanced' view. The contributors are colleagues (or former colleagues) also from the School of Social Work at Carleton University. Each of these professors authored various chapters from their respective areas of specialization, such as Aboriginal Social Work, Disability, Gerontology etc. It's a good general overview of the subject but is somewhat lacking in depth which is the reason I said that it's a "good beginning". It's suitable for an undergraduate student or as an onformative read for someone contemplating becoming a social worker in Canada.
