I came across an article in the New Scientist today, an interview with a Chernobyl engineer. It triggered the memory of a long ago english course in which I read this book. This book was required reading for one of my high school english courses. It is one of the few books I actually enjoyed reading. I highly recommend this book. The story is a very easy read, but the story is very powerful, and evoked tears in my eyes at several points. I wish I could comment further on the details of this book, the characters, the story, but its been too long. Nevertheless, the book made an impression on me and I remember reading it. The title is taken from rant by one of the patients at the hospital. I can't remember the exact quote but to paraphrase "you experiment with all these dangerous technology and one day when man kind is wiped from this earth your sarcophagus will still stand". He is referring to all the big structure built to enclose Chernobyl's reactor and the radiation.
