"Characters You Will Fall in Love With"

This is the second Lori Wick book I have read. I am convinced that she is one of the best authors in Christian fiction. She takes her characters, faults and all, and develops them to a point where you develop a relationship with them. Sabrina was a prostitute. Out of the blue, a man takes her home, so that he and his wife can rescue her from the profession. The young girl finds God, a new life, and confidence. She ends up in Montana, so she can start again. The local preacher falls in love with her, but Sabrina fears that her former life will come to light, ruining the preacher's reputation. Can a preacher have a relationship with a former prostitute? As Sabrina fell in love, I did, also. Rylan, the minister, will pluck any reader's heartstrings. Put this at the top of your Summer reading list.

Wonderful. Loved all the characters!

Wonderful character developement. Love that the Christians in the congregation were so accepting of new members! Wish it were true of modern day churches of any denomination!

Reading this book is time well spent

Big Sky Dreams is Wick's newest series, and quite frankly, I really didn't like the first book of the series, Cassidy. It took me 70 pages to really get into the story and understand who the characters were and what was going on. Cassidy was in great need of editing. Not so with Sabrina. Consider the opening sentence: "The sun was setting fast as a crowd gathered around the dead body that lay in the street." Uh, Hello! That's definitely an attention grabber. The book--from cover to cover--is well-written. It's respectful. It's honest. It shows character growth. It teaches truths. (In another book I'm reading right now for professional development, it talks about the difference between "true stories" and "truth stories.") The story is there for you to read and enjoy--and learn from. Here's what I learned as a result of reading this book: I am blessed with the life and circumstances God gave me. I do not have to purposely put myself in danger to share my faith, but can live a life of faith on a daily basis so those I come in contact with know who I am and what I stand for. (But neither do I need to get too comfortable in my "normal" circles.) My life experiences matter because it helps me to identify with other people who have similar life experiences. This helps me to be a better friend and witness. Reading this book was time well spent.

Worth Reading!

Lori Wick is one of my favorite authors. Her last book in this series was a little disappointing--I felt I didn't read enough about the main characters to get to know them well (too many other character conversations). This book is a huge improvement! For me, "Sabrina" started a bit slow, but turned into a great story with an uplifting message about forgiveness. The Kensington Chronicles remain by far my favorite series by this author, but this is still a Lori Wick book you won't regret reading!
