To think it all started with revenge...

Galen was your typical scared hero, harboring his personal horrors from imprisonment and then unjust loyalty to a deceased comrad regarding a very lovely miss. It's too bad he didn't do his research before he drew the cartoon or prepared his revenge plan of action. It was a good book. I liked her first book and I really liked this book as well but differently. The "Jaded" went thru a terrible experience as prisoners. I look forward to each of their stories!

All I can say is that Renee Benard has done it again. Galens chemistry with Haley is smoking hot. I could not put it down.

GREAT PLOT AND VERY SENSUAL ROMANCE

I really liked this story because it was different. Ms. Bernard writes about Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome and weaves it into a very romantic sensual love story. Revenge Wears Rubies is the first book in her new series the Jaded; eight British men were captured together, tortured, and held prisoner in India. This is the story about Galen Hawke whose best friend John has died only days after their escape. The heroine is the beautiful, intelligent and cheerful Ms. Haley Moreland; her character was written perfectly. Galen believes her to be heartless and cruel. He believes she got engaged to soon after John's death. So he is out for revenge. I could not put this book down, a true page turner. The book does not give a lot of back story of what they have endured in prison; but I was happy about that because I do not like to read about abuse, rape, torture, or who- done - it murder mysteries in a historical romance book. I like fantasy and pure romance where the couple learns, grows, and develops their relationship. I love the fantasy of historical romance stories and Ms. Bernard has always delivered that in her books. She also, writes very romantic, sensual, erotic love scenes and they are sizzling hot in this book!!!!! VERY WELL DONE! I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

terrific Victorian romance

In 1857 he survived imprisonment in Bengal, India. He vows to teach Miss Haley Moreland, engaged to Herbert Trumble, a lesson she will never forget. Her biggest issue is to keep her family from poverty, which means marrying wealth. However, upon meeting Galen, she is attracted to him while he wants to seduce and ergo destroy her. As he begins to reassess what he thought he knew about Haley, she ponders whether to marry for love or money that is if Galen even considers marrying her. This terrific Victorian romance grips the audience with the opening nightmare as an enthralled audience watches how the vendetta of a Jaded Gentleman plays out. Fast-paced throughout as her sly father observes, fans will appreciate Galen's thirst for vengeance turn to admiration and love, but might prove too late. With "Sapphires" to follow, sub-genre readers will enjoy the first of the Jaded Gentleman tales. Harriet Klausner
