Great book! Not your typical self-help tome

I was so surprised by this book. I am always open to new self help books but this one wasn't like others I have read. I discovered this author on [...] when reading an excerpt of the book and wanted to check out the whole thing. It looks at your past relationships and how you can use them to heal and be ready for your great love (plan B!) It also uses ancient philosophy as back-up and lots of research from respected psychologists (ex. John Gottman). She sometimes goes overboard with the puns and silly phrases, but that was very easy to overlook given the message of the book - how to attract your soulmate (using law of attracting and also some concrete advice) and what to look for in a potential mate, but also making sure you are ready to give in the relationship.

I really like reading these kinds of books. This one, Prince Harming Syndrome, is dead-on. It's about recognizing your past relationship patterns, and most importantly, it's about undoing past damage. If you are looking for a long term relationship and want to figure some of this emotional stuff out--why you're stuck in bad relationship patterns to begin with--then this is the book for you. It was insightful, intelligent and helped me to get unstuck. A must, must read as well as Man Magnet: How to Be the Best Woman You Can Be in Order to Get the Best Man-A Guide To Dating (Revised Edition).

Utterly Fabulous.

I am a huge fan of Karen Salmansohn so I was excited to read Prince Harming Syndrome the second I heard about it. This book is does not disappoint, it has shifted my thinking about relationships completely. Karen brings the message in her fun, witty way that makes this book and her utterly fabulous!

Karen Salmansohn's book is a godsend at this point in my life. (38 and single almost married 4 times!) She looks at things and explains them... things that you may have heard before but somehow now make perfect sense. This book forced me to take a long hard look at who I am in a relationship and how that relates to who I will bring into my life. I have already put into motion many of her principles and am excited to see the beginnings of many positive changes. She explains the language to use and the questions to ask to figure out if your guy/ date is going to be a "prince harming" or your prince charming of a husband/ life partner. Her ties into hardcore philosophy are smart and she is witty as all get out! I found myself laughing out loud on the subway and thinking about her ideas while walking along to appointments. I love her writing voice - in this book you have the best big sister ever and the coolest girlfriend who gets it because she has been there. I now have my arms wide open and am looking forward to the universe bringing me my prince charming!
