ok, but...

i've gotten only to a point in the middle so far (studying the math part right now) and had an urge to write a review. This book so far seems an ok overview, but you have to take everything you read with a grain of salt. I'm not so competent in other parts, but I know math, and some things stated in the book are plain illiterate, for example "between every integer is a fraction", "draw 2 concentric circles to illustrate the intersecting sets" (when the diagram shows, naturally, non-concentric circles), etc.

Good Refresher and Overview

I plucked this book off a Borders book shelf and sat at the cafe and went through all 4 elementary content areas (Literacy, Science, Math, Social Studies). The book provides a solid overview of those subject areas, especially Math and Social Studies. As far as the tests that are included, they were much more difficult than the actual Praxis exam. I went through one of the practice exams for the 0014 test and missed one out of every 4, but I ended up with a 188/200 on the real test and a ETS Recognition of Excellence certificate. So my advice for those taking the test is stick the subject review areas and don't sweat the exams that are included. The actual Praxis test was more like the 10 question review ETS provides you free of charge on their website. For most people that are recently out of school, the review this book provides is probably sufficient. The only thing I recommend is that if you are not strong in science, find a 6th grade Earth Science textbook and skim that as well. For those of you who have been out of school for a much a longer time, I would recommend finding middle school textbooks in all subject areas of the test(Science, Math, Social Studies), plus a basic literacy textbook. Remember that the English section is more about how students acquire language and reading than it is about Language Arts subject matter. Skimming those will provide you with much better preparation than this or any other PRaxis Elementary test guide. And for those of you who don't want to spend the money like I did, just go to a Borders or Barnes and Noble and find this book and a comfortable couch.

Excellent Comprehesive Review

I passed because of this book after previously taking the test 3 times. Why you should consider buying this book: I bought this book after owning 3 other books for The Praxis Elementary Education Test. It is the most comprehensive one out there. Although as many say the tests aren't that great, however, the test in most books I've found never seem to match what the real test is like. What makes this book stand out from the rest is it is so detailed for each content area. I took The Praxis Elementary Education 001 test 3 times before and I always scored no higher than a 165 (168 is passing in Pa)...out of frustration I bought yet another book (this one) because of it comprehensiveness that all the others were lacking. I am happy to say that after studying the info in this book I took the test and passed...not only did I pass, but I passed with my highest score 180. This book proved to me that I didn't need the practice tests to pass...anyhow when you take a test in school you don't get to take a practice test beforehand. However, if you want to take a practice test there are plenty of free practice tests online.

If you are taking the PLT Content test, this is one of the best books to use for review.

Great Comprehensive Review

I bought this along with the ETS book when I signed up to take 0014. I found this book a lot more comprehensive and great way to review and refresh since I've been out of school for a few years. Took test for first time and passed and feel this book greatly helped my chances. I highly recommend this book. Loved the full-length practice tests. They gave me a good feel for what the actual test would be like.
