Peter and the Wolf

This has always been a favorite. I loved it as a child and still love it. I amd very happy with my purchase.

Delightful Rendition of Peter not just for Children

Bernstein does a marvelous job with this timeless children's musical classic. The narration by Mr. Bernstein, a storyteller seemingly by nature, is clear and unrushed and beautifully integrated with the music. He takes no liberties with the original score, so for those who may remember the music from their own childhood recordings (mine was on a 33 rpm), they will not be disappointed by his treatment of the composer's creation. Because the music and story are so well unified and the story is told with such sincerity, this recording would please both child and adult alike. If you have never heard Peter and the Wolf and want to experience a delightful musical story, this CD is for you. For those who remember the music from their own childhood, this CD will not disappoint. And if you have children who love music and fairy tales, this is a must listen. Endearing for any age listener, Bernstein's version of this classic is ageless. Enjoy!

Peter and the Wolf

The author has divided this book into three sections. The first section is devoted to the instruments and the characters they represent. The second, and main section, is Dewhirst's retelling of the story, which is more enjoyable for my children because of the slight deviation the author takes. Finally, there is a brief biography of Sergei Prokofiev, the composer of the piece.A very strong point is the inclusion of an audio CD of the piece, narrated by Leonard Bernstein.
