Good book though somewhat confusing

Any fan of Sherrilyn Kenyon will know that these books were released out of order. This is actually suppose to be the second book in the second series but came early due to some printing issues. That being said this book can be a bit confusing cause it goes hand in hand with a different that has nothing to do with the current series. Everyone has new names and some even having different roles they played in each story. It was rewritten to fit in with this timeline. This is a good story and happens to be one of the best. Devyn is an amazing Hero and the Heroine can actually hold her own...sometimes. She got kenyoned halfway through the book and became a bubbling idiot but it can be forgiven cause she does have some bada $$ moments. Vic is the best thing to have happened to this books.

terrific

Alix Gerran has three weeks to save her mother and sister from execution by the Ritadarion Chief Minister of Justice Merjack. To free them, she must find evidence of treasonous activity by Devyn Kell, the son of the notorious couple Sharara Dagan and C.I. Syn (see Born of Fire). Merjack warns her every agent he has sent to bring Kell in to stand public trial has come home in a body bag. Alix obtains a position as an engineer on the same ship that Kell is a doctor. Once in service to the League as an assassin until he had an epiphany; now a Runner he smuggles supplies to those in need of basic sustenance in order to survive. . If she fails to find proof, Alix is to plant the evidence needed to legally hang Kell. However, she is not only attracted to him; she admires what he and other crew do for the downtrodden. He is falling in love with the new ship employee, but knows she hides something that he fears will make her his Achilles' heel. The third League tale is a fast-paced exhilarating romantic science fiction thriller that showcases the offspring of the heroes of previous tales (see Born of Night). Filled with action and plenty of humor, fans of the saga will enjoy this fine finish as Kell meets his equal in Alix. Readers will enjoy this strong rewriting of the Ichidian Universe even if Merjack a bit over the top of Olympus Mons with his degree of hatred surpassing the hottest sun. Harriet Klausner

Enjoyable, fast read

The third installment of the League series follows the life of Devyn, the son of the notorious C.I. Syn from Born of Fire. Devyn became a doctor and joined the League, a military group to which his family has close ties, but became disgruntled during a battle. He left the League and became a smuggler. Now, the League and other agencies want Devyn. Enter Alix. She, her sister, and mother are slaves that were arrested. To earn their freedom, Alix is told to use her skills as a spaceship mechanic and get hired by Devyn. She does as instructed but soon discovers that she is working for the bad guys. Unfortunately, not only does she like Devyn and his crew, she falls hard for Devyn. When Devyn met Alix, she reminded him of his ex-fiancé. He is attracted to her, but attempts to maintain a distance with little luck. Can Alix keep her identity and mission a secret from the man that she adores? Or, will she have to backstab all her new friends to save her family? Alix is a wonderful character. She is good at what she does, but has much insecurity, which makes her multi-dimensional. Devyn is over-the-top, as many of Ms. Kenyon's characters have a tendency to be, and it works well in this story. Together, they make an interesting couple. The other characters are all great, too. Their snarky dialogue is fun and fits well in the plot. Characters from the previous league books make appearances, which make reading Born of Night and Born of Fire not necessarily, but increase the enjoyment of Born of Ice. The pacing is very well done. I did not feel there were any slow portions or any parts that I wish were expanded. Honestly, I had a difficult time putting this quick read down. Born of Ice reminds me more of the first League book Born of Night, where I was drawn into the story and adored the characters. Even if you haven't read the previous League books, you will still enjoy Born of Ice. BookingIt Grade: A-

Born of Ice

Born of Ice tells the story of Devyn Kell former League soldier and civilian Alix Garran. Devyn is always one step ahead of The League. While Alix, is sent to bring him in alive in order to save her family. With the past and their enemies catching up to them, they'll have to stick together if they want to survive. This is the third installment in The League series. On first seeing and hearing Devyn, Alix is mesmerized by him. She is at a total loss for words at his yumminess. Devyn is likewise attracted, but also haunted because Alix reminds him of someone he use to know. Shockingly Devyn isn't the tortured hero compared to the hero's in books one and two. This time it is our heroine that has the horrendous past. And I have to say Alix really deserves to wreak some vengeance. I loved this book, so far Devyn is my favorite League character. There is just something about him that pulls you in. He is dark and mysterious like the rest, but very sweet too. As always another action packed adventure from Ms. Kenyon. She has one of the best imaginations. I love spending time in her worlds. There is never a dull moment.

Love it!

Enjoyed almost as much as the Dark Hunter and Dream Hunter series. Characters are well developed. Edge of your seat action and sizzling romance.

Favorite of the League Novels

This was my favorite of the three League novels. The story was full of action, romance, humor, and all the characters were entertaining. I couldn't stop reading it and wished it had been a lot longer. Though this is science fiction romance (versus the author's Dark and Were Hunters paranormal romance books), there's nothing complex in its story line. To me, it was that elegant, to the point 'woman meets man - man meets woman - they fall in love - have great sex - have some problems to solve - solve the problems - and live happily ever after' simplicity that made it such a perfect enjoyable read. The romantic leads in this story are Devyn (Syn's and Sahara's son) and his 'heroine' Alix. The major characters from the previous two books have background roles but a lot of their children play major roles. And Vik (the mech from Born of Fire) is present with all his adorable, sarcastic humor. All these characters added just the right touch of tying in all three stories into one happy ending that I loved. I hope Sherrilyn Kenyon comes up with another League novel. I like this series even better than the Dark-hunters books.
