The best book ever writen !!!!!!!!!! *^.^*

This book is the best. I loved it so much. If you like books where the boy gets the girl & books where it has a very surprising ending, then this is definitely the book for you. I loved this book so much, that I didn't want it to end. I really wish Katherine Paterson would write a sequel. Buy this book. I guarantee that you will love it. This book is for all ages that can read!!!! *^.^*

More than just a love story

Of Nightingales that Weep is fiction woven into history. The Genji Wars, Yoritomo, sea battles for dominance of Japan are all real events. And Takiko is swept up into the middle of it all living in the court of the exiled boy emperor. On top if it all she is in love with an enemy spy. The lessons she learns about family and true love, and about the vanity of court make this book a valuable read, more profound than most teen literature.

Some Pretty Wondrous Nightingales!

Nightingales That Weep is a very dynamic book! Whatever your interests, romance, action-adventure, or history/historical fiction, you're guaranteed to find it in this wondrous book. Takiko, a young and beautiful daughter of a samurai goes on the adventure of her life, from beautiful and high-ranking to poor and ugly. She must hold on to her hope in order to preserve what sort of life she might have-left. All in all, anyone who can read MUST try this book! I highly reccomend it! :-)

Heart touching book...

This is a really touching book about Takiko, a samurai's daughter. I felt sorry for her when her lover deserts her because of her 'disfigurement'. This is a wonderful book that deserves to be read again and again.

If you liked Sign of the Chrysanthemum, read this!

This book is sort of a sequel to Sign of the Chrysanthemum, but takes place about 25 years later. This vivid novel chronicles what happenes to Takiko, daughter of a samurai. This book is wonderful, but hauntingly sad. I found myself thinking about it for weeks. Don't miss it!
