Inspiring for kids

We checked this book from the library, and it's been a "repeat read" for the three weeks we've had it. My five-year-old son has created a mental list of all the "nothing" things he'd like to do, such as building a boat out of Popsicle sticks and make a tent fort out of a clothesline and blankets. It's an inspiring book, thanks to the great illustrations and the simple but powerful concept.

READ IT!

I think this book should come with every child when they are sent home from the hospital. We live in a world where our children are scheduled for EVERYTHING. This book shows what they miss when they don't just stop and do nothing. This is a fabulous read! Every classroom should have it as well.

Highly Recommend

This book was recommended by a very well-respected educator in New York City. Its simplicity is lovely and my 7-year-old daughter loves to stop and make comments while we're reading it. The illustrations are beautiful and my daughter also loves to comment on them as well. The other book that was recommended at the same time is "One of Those Days" by Amy Krouse Rosenthal. Again, don't let its simplicity fool you. There's a lot in it that my daughter can relate to thus invoking meaningful discussions throughout.
