A life lesson to any age reader - what a beautifully written and illustrated book!

Perfect Marriage of Text and Illustrations

This delightful book about a little boy who isn't afraid of thunderstorms and a dog who is is a perfect marriage of text and art. Little ones who are frightened of thunder or who love dogs will enjoy it. Those who read it to the child will not tire of it because of the delightful portrayal of the two frightened characters.

Childrens' librarian gives thumbs up!

This book is a wonderful choice for kids who are afraid of dogs, those who have other fears, or just those looking for a good read. I've used it in K-3 storytime and found it effective on many different levels. The story is engaging, the characters are believable, and the ending satisfies. In addition to dealing with the nature of courage, it can spark discussions on both sibling and animal relationships and can easily lend itself to a lesson on how to approach strange dogs! Children are instantly entranced and you may expect collective gasps when Daniel and Bandit wind up locked in the bathroom together. A very satisfying picture book that children of all ages will love!

Cool book!

What a cool book! Pitzer knows what kids think and feel, especially when it comes to having a dog come to live in the same house with you when you're afraid of dogs! With humor and common sense, she is sure to win over the most reluctant of kids and turn them into dog lovers.
