An Important Liberative Read

This book challenges antiquated and oppressive interpretations of the Bible which are normative in the church. It challenges women and men to consider interpretations and actions which are in alignment with the liberative practices of Jesus the Christ. It is as another reviewer wrote a book for any race or group.

Great Read

Although this book is geared towards African American women, I found this very enlightening regarding the unique history on Black christian views on sex, the Black woman's role in the church and family. Sheron C. Patterson also goes as far as to point out the origins of sexism created for the benefit of white masters or racist "Christians" who were instrumental in the decision making of Black Church affairs. Because todays African Americans are diverse in their choice of religious faith/upbringing, I'd go as far as to say this books is a good read for daughters and Black women of ANY faith.
