Love & Laughter

I started this book and thought how booring, another dumb blond gets lost in the desert, ho, hum. Well it didn't take long before I was laughing so hard about Roxanne Salyer having her straw purse on her foot when the strap broke on her sandal, my sides hurt. Between the kittens, puppies, the foal, and Ginny I fell in love. This lonely, loving, dedicated to her Grandma Nell she won my heart, I wasn't surprised when Jack caved in to fate. Roxanne was delightful, Ginny Jack's little 3 yr old was a doll, and Roxanne jumping in to help with the radio station, the hero contest and keeping Ginny was so sweet I cried. Then there was Tony's parakeets, so many women having babies, or just had babies, it was delightful. Dr. Jack Wheeler had very little choice but to fall in love with Roxanne, even though he is a wounded hero, his first wife did a number on him. Thinking they had so much in common when they married, he soon learned it was his job to keep her entertained as well as being a part-time rancher and a full time doctor. The twist at the end of the book was cool too. This book had it all. I loved it. I still love the late great Betty Neels, (mostly Doctor, Nurse)Essie Summers (Keewee Aussies), Mary Burchell(mostly music opera), along with Eva Rutland, Jessica Steele, Helen Brooks, and Susan Fox. At first I didn't like Jessica Steele,(dumb blond thing) but when I found all her books were full of her dry humor, I started reading all my books by her, and I loved them. Ms Rutland also writes Regency. Ms Fox's books are mostly tear jerkers, and Ms Brooks are intense all short stories, all my favs mostly G ratings.

MOST EXCELLENT!

Belonging to the series "An Older Man" He's seasoned, sophisticated, jaded...but the right woman can melt his hardened heart.I can't believe that Jack Wheeler at 39 is considered "an older man" - He surely is a man who tugs at the heartstrings.I was so tickled when Roxanne Salyer showed up at his ranch and found just about everything and everyone pregnant or had young. The horses, the cat, the dog and the ladies. The finding of Dolly Aames for her grandmother, Nell added the mystery and a bit of spice to the story and I was so happy that Roxanne came to realize that love was even more rewarding than a career. And with love everything else fell into place.Great story - Highly Recommended -- definitely well worth reading.

Excellent Book

I loved "Prim, Proper, Pregnant" so much that I was thrilled when I saw another Alice Sharpe book on the shelves. I've been a fan since "Missing: One Bride" - another great book - but "The Baby Season" tops them all. I actually have memories of the book and characters as if they were friends - that's how vivid they were. The love story intertwined with the mystery, and the little girl is so adorable I wanted to switch her with one of my own :) Ms. Sharpe has always had exceptional supporting characters, but again - here she outdoes herself. I hate to be cliche, but I laughed, I cried, I LOVED this book!

:)

Roxanne never thought that things could get worse. All she wanted to do was grant her grandmothers wish to find an old friend that she used to sing with. Now, however, her car is stranded in the desert, she is badly sunburned, her clothes are covered in dirt, the strap on her sandal broke, her cell phone is dead, she is picked up by a man that sees her as a big problem, and the worst of all is that she is no closer to finding her grandmothers friend. Now what?Jack is a divorced doctor trying to raise his daughter, Ginny. He was not looking for a woman in his life. He had one, heck he married one and had a daughter with her, and she ran off with another man leaving him and their daughter. Something about Roxanne gets under his skin. He does not want to get hurt again or see his daughter hurt. So, what is he supposed to do?The loving relationship building between Jack and Roxanne is not the only story going on. There are secrets that Roxanne is uncovering that could destroy the very family that she is finding herself wanting to be apart of. This is a short love story about family and the faith that you have to have in yourself and others.
