The relation between economics and politics is one that is of crucial interest for many Latin American countries. Through a careful selection and thematic organization of thirty-five articles, Frieden, Pastor, and Tomz have provided the reader with powerful analytical and descriptive chapters that allow a better understanding of the Latin American politico-economic reality. The authors of the selected articles are not only worldwide-recognized scholars with different approaches, but also international organizations such as the Inter-American Development Bank and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development. It is an excellent book for students and scholars interested in both the economic and the political aspects of the Latin American reality and, especially, in the relationship among the two approaches.
