On the very brink of World war II,

This story takes place in Berlin..right Before Hitler starts his plans to take over and invade other Countrys.The British Government has sent over a Diplomat Noel Macrae, who's mission is to learn as best he could in what direction Hilter and his upper command are planning..Mainly..IS he going to eventually invade England. Macrae is basically the main character in this story..with many others joining in the story line. Macrae has a bizarre marriage...to say the least..with a wife who is bored and pretty much tells him to "go have an affair, because she is".. There are many twists and turns to this story, that involve, Government policies, his wife's cheating, him meeting and falling for a Jewish women..who is blackmailed into working in a Brothel, that is entirely controlled by the Gestapo, who records what goes on in the rooms with diff.women.. to learn spilled secrets in fits of drunken passion.Macrae eventually helps Sara, obtain legal papers ( through his Government Embassy) to help her escape to Freedom. On top of all this Macrae has befriended a German Commander who is against Hitler, and feeds Macrae as much information as he could to make the British Government realize, that Hitler Can't be trusted, is Crazy..and wants to eventually take over all of Europe and the world ! Macrea's meetings in British Embassies where he tells them all the information he has acquired from a very reliable source...fall on deaf ears.. and no one will listen to or take heed with all that he has passed on. From plans of invasions of different Country's one by one, to all the latest weapons, tanks, bombs, planes..and a vast sizable army..No one will take heed..In this madness..Macrae decides to take things into his own hands..and plans to assassinate Hitler !!! Will He ??? Can't tell. I have never read anything by this author, but I can say.. he has seemed to very meticulously researched the history of this time period, and all its policies and Government protocol. The wonderful details of different scenarios from the Brothel, where alot of the story line takes place to the "Hunts" he goes on in the forest with his"informant" almost make you feel as though you can smell the smoky, whiskey filled bar, or smell the deep penetrating greens of the Pine Tree's in the Forest, all add to a wonderfully told story.
