Classic Topic, Classic Art

I would love this book for the team alone that put it together; but it turns out, it is a great book for little ones facing fearful challenges. In fact, it is THE LITTLE ENGINE THAT COULD, for big, cool, TRUCKS!!

Melvin Does It!

I can't wait to share this book with my nephew when he is old enough. Melvin Might tells the story of Melvin the Cement Mixer. Melvin the Mixer worries: about EVERYTHING. He worries about getting dirty. He worries about getting wet. He even worries about worrying. When Melvin and the Trucktown gang need to cross over before the bridge is finished one of his friends Rita needs his help. Will Melvin be able to put aside his fears and worry and help Rita? The pictures in this book are very engaging. The personification of the vehicles is great and really adds to the book. Its a fun read and some of the pages even pull open to extend the reading fun! A great book.

Adorable Story for Truck and Car Lovers

"Melvin Might" is a story for children ages 3 to 6, both boys and girls, about a cement mixing truck named Melvin who ends up helping his friends, Pete a payloader truck and Rita an ambulance, out of a quandry even though he worries that he might not be able to help. Melvin is a worrier while Pete and Rita are more free-spirited; however, it is Melvin who ends up saving the day. The illustrations in this story are big and vibrant. The vehicles have human characteristics, similar to how the vehicles are portrayed in the movie "Cars." There are both male and female vehicles in this story, making it appealing to both boys and girls. My five-year-old son thoroughly enjoyed me reading this story to him! "Melvin Might" is a wonderful addition to our at-home library.

Exciting and Colorful book!

My kids like the book so much that they want another book from the series called, "trucktown"! The book is indeed a joy to read (in kid's perspective). 1. The illustrations are superbly done. Colorful and vivid. Expressions of the cars are nicely done. 2. The story is about Melvin (Cement Mixer truck) who worries. Basically he worries about everything -- perhaps just like an insecure child. But to help his friend who is in trouble (Rescue Rita), he overcomes his fear and worry. The point of the story can really teach a child to learn about helping others in need despite his/her fears and worries. 3. The book is not long (only 44 pages) and filled with colorful illustrations. 4. The book is stitched (Smyth-sewn) and not glued and therefore it will last a long time. 5. Pages are strong and 2/3 way end of the book, there is a fold-out pages that excites the kids (my kids said, "oh, cool!"). 6. Inside the cover, there are characters of the series that also appear in other books. In this book, several characters do not appear, however. Overall, it is an excellent book for kids to learn about overcoming one's fears and worries to help others. Very nice, indeed.

MELVIN SAVES THE DAY!!!

MELVIN MIGHT? THIS IS A VINE REVIEW ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is a sweet little book for young children. Boys would especially enjoy this since it is one in a series of TRUCKTOWN books! There are many characters in this series; this book centers around Cement Mixer Melvin and Rescue Rita. There is an unfinished bridge in town and Jack Truck and his friend, Payloader Pete show Melvin and Rita a fun way to cross the not yet complete bridge. They roar, they soar, they cross the bridge. However, Melvin worries constantly and has no faith in himself and doesn't think he can cross the bridge. Melvin worries about getting dirty, getting stuck, and not being able to get over the bridge. Melvin's motto is I CAN'T. When Rita tries to cross the bridge and needs help, it's up to Melvin to help her and save her. He is sure he can't do it and when he realizes that Rita truly needs his help, he comes to the rescue. He finally BELIEVES in himself. The story is short and sweet. What it teaches kids is if you think you can't, you won't. And if you try and think you can, you will! You can do anything if you try and if you believe in yourself. This is a great story for kids with little confidence in themselves! The illustrations are superlative. I know my little three year-old grandson is going to LOVE this book. I highly recommend this for kids of all ages. Also, check out the other books in this adorable series. Thank you! Pam
