Fantastic! For the naturalist in every child!

A classic! A wonderful introduction to wildlife for kids. I found the book interesting in the way it helped kids empathize with animals, or at least understand their needs. Read this book to your children to help them grow into adults considerate of wild pets and animals in general. My favorite Rood book, which is not listed that I can see, was ANIMALS NOBODY LOVES. That was a FANTASTIC book, which my husband keeps under lock and key as it is signed by Ronald Rood and given to him by Rood's parents. It's his favorite. If you can find it, it's well worth picking up at a used bookstore.

Excellent! A Page turner!

Wonderful. Simply wonderful! The symbolism of the clam and the child was exquisite. Not since the days of Sartre has has the nihilistic style been so well expressed.
