Maisy Drives

ISBN 0763614637 - Maisy, by virtue of her popularity, is a nice weapon in the getting-them-to-read wars. And I say "wars" because I'm thinking boys in particular with this one. Featuring vehicles and their sounds, Maisy Drives will appeal to both genders, but every parent of a boy knows that they can be harder to get reading. Maisy drives various vehicles, including a plane and all the way to a tricycle, and each image is accompanied by the sound the vehicle makes. "Maisy drives the tractor. Chug, chug!" Whatever gets a kid's nose in a book is a great thing. The illustrations are standard Maisy, basic and colorful. The sturdy board book pages stand up to toddlers well. Great for little boys who like vehicles and their noises

My 17-month-old boy has a limited attention span for books (so much different than my little girl was at this age!). Anyway, he listens to this short, simple Maisy story very attentively, especially if you are animated in making all the different vehicle noises.

Vroom! Vroom!

My little boy has loved this book since he was about 9 months old. He loves all the sounds--toot, chug, vroom and brmmm. On the last page, it says "Bye Bye everyone," and he points at Maisy and waves. We have to read it over and over. Sometimes he gets so excited, he skips right to the "bye bye" part!
