Intersting and lots of fun

Fans of the old and new will like these new books from Harper. I liked both this book and the audio version read by Bill Mumy. Of particular interest to me in this book was the psychological study of Smiths addiction to a drug he calls the Kiss and his "kicking it" at the end. I wont tell you about what happens between him and Judy at the end, you'll have to find out for yourselves!

WAY COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so glad that they came out with a series of books on this epic tale of space explores with their REALLY handsome pilot. I hope that there are a lot more to come:) A 16 yr. old reader

An easy read.

I thought this was a good book, and an easy read. It was a little confusing at first, what with the constantly change point of view. But after I quickly adjusted to that, it was quite enjoyable and very imaginative. The plot was good too. The only thing I found weird was as I was reading, I pictured the old Don West instead of the new one. Every other character was just like in the movie.

Surprisingly entertaining. Worth reading in a light mood.

Well my initial reaction to this book was "Dear God, why? Wasn't the movie enough?" But being the frighteningly loyal Gary Oldman fan that I am, I have to say my curiosity was piqued. I managed to resist the temptation to open it up and take a look for about three days. When I did, I had intended to only read the first few pages and determine of it was worth money. I ended up making a rather large dent in it when I realized that I'd been standing there reading for about twenty minutes. Well to make a long story short, I paid for it, and finished it that night in bed. Not the most profound read of my life, but also not a complete waste of my time and brainpower. The character insights are more in-depth than you normally find in franchise-based novels, and I found Smith's inner ramblings in particular to be wickedly amusing in spots. There are definite overtones of Brave New World to this as well. The similarities are even remarked upon in several spots. Not as ground-breaking, or with quite the same punch as the aforementioned book, but if you liked the classic, you might want to sneek a peek at the contemprary, if watered down version. Cadigan has a wonderful grasp of the characters and delights in moving the plot along from behind their eyes. The point of view constantly shifts from one person to the next, keeping things fresh and interesting. The inter-personal relationships between them are also revitalized and, in a few cases, delightfully unexpected. Some rather touching scenes as well as some suspense and some humor thrown in. Nice mix. All in all, rather enjoyable. Not heavy reading, by any stretch of the imagination, but worth a curl up on the couch with a cup of tea on a Sunday afternoon. I give it 3 1/2 stars, but I guess I didn't have that particular option.

Hanging In Space

This book kept me hanging on to every word. I didn't want to go to work because I might miss something. I was pleased the personality of the characters stayed in tact. I have seen many old shows brought into the 'modern day' theatre only to be spoiled. I feel that the writing of this book was done smoothly.
