Disappointing

I ordered this along with its precursor Talk if the Town (which itself was only Ok). The second book was worse - the characters were shallow and did not develop and the plot almost non existent. Ms Hawkins occasionally writes really well but not this time. Donation bin.

Lois Lane Tells All is all out sexy

Lois Lane Tells All is another entertaining story by Karen Hawkins. Susan Collins was used to getting her own way when she was Glory, NC's town dispatcher. But she has moved on to ace editor/reporter for The Glory Examiner. Susan loves her job of reporting the news and getting the town involved. There is just one thing getting in her way and it's a big one. CFO Mark Tremayne knows nothing about the newspaper business being a CPA and he keeps sticking his nose where it doesn't belong. Her arguments with Mark have her hot under the collar in more ways then one. Mark Tremayne came to Glory to help his sister Roxie out when she bought The Glory Examiner. He figured it would be a few months to get the paper back on even footing and he can get back to his accounting firm in Raleigh. Things at the paper were worse off then he originally thought and he has to get down in trenches of the workings of the paper. His daily meetings with the staff especially Susan Collins has him thinking about more then the plus and minus column. Susan and Mark fall into a passionate kiss that leads to more then they bargained for since Mark isn't staying in town. Susan and Mark both have been hurt in the past and it's a lot for them both to get past. Added to this mix is someone is out to get Susan after she writes a story about missing money. Can these two work out their differences and fight for this new relationship? Lois Lane Tells All is wickedly funny and smoking hot. I loved the dialogue between all the characters but Mark and Susan's were sizzling. The murder mystery club is an added laugh out loud layer to this wonderful book. I am looking forward to another visit to Glory, NC soon.

Perfect Spring Fling

First things first, if you're a Superman fan and you're thinking about naming a dog, you're going to name it Krypto. Dog, no N. Home planet, add the N. The fact that this detail bothered me means I completely bought into Susan being obsessed with Lois Lane. I really did enjoy Lois Lane Tells All. It's not a perfect read, towards the end the number of 'quirky small town inhabitants' became a bit overwhelming. On the other hand, Superman was so obsessed with his home planet that he had a bottle housing the last citizens of Kandor. (It concerns me that I remember that.) Karen Hawkins brings a refreshingly light touch to this tale of a small town newspaper editor and it's hard eyed financial manager. With Susan as Lois Lane and Mark a little bit Clark Kent, a little bit Perry White, the romance plays nicely. The mysteries are fun and frothy, no dead bodies in the shrubbery or escalating serial killer counts here. Susan's problems are more realistic than that. With a father in need of care taking and a newspaper on the edge of collapse, her way of life is on the line. Strong and capable Susan doesn't need saving, but Mark just might. His world has shrunk since a painful divorce to focus on work, work, and more work, Taking his eyes off the numbers long enough to appreciate the heroine in front of him might be the cure to his restless impatience. A great beach read, a great contemporary romance, Lois Lane Tells All is well worth the time.

Late Night - could not put it down ...

Karen Hawkins has made a Glory, North Carolina a fun to town to visit.... Her first book Talk of the Townstarts the series. Mark has return to hometown to help his sister who has now owns the local paper. Mark tries to ignore his lust for the Editor Susan Collins who also his sister's best friend. The connect between Susan and Mark sizzles and the cast of `character' are very funny. I couldn't put is down - I love everything she writes - Enjoy! If you enjoy this genre I would also suggest; Mad, Bad and Blonde ,Knock Me for a Loop, Crime Scene At Cardwell Ranch (Harlequin Intrigue Series) and Slow Heat (Berkley Sensation).

amusing journalistic investigative romance

In Glory, North Carolina, Susan Collins is a reporter and editor of the Glory Examiner. Her current boss is a no nonsense bottom line accountant. Temporarily in charge Mark Tremayne (brother of Roxie from Talk of the Town) is a hunk who ignores the news. Mark cannot wait to leave the small town, but knows his job is to save the newspaper drowning in red. His biggest problem is ace reporter Susan who refuses to accept a big city accountant running the show over a news person. The only hope to turn around the paper lies with Susan's inquiry into the Baptist Bake-off as her editorial about something odd going on leads to danger from someone who wants her dead. Her brake lines are sliced and that adversary cut a hole into her boat. With the help of the not over the hill assisted-living gang, Susan investigates who wants to kill her. This is an amusing journalistic investigative romance starring a likable cast. The lead couple fights and fusses over the Examiner from the onset with the dear Bob column and never slows down as they fall in love. Fast-paced, Karen Hawkins' fans will appreciate the return of the assisted-living mob to assist the intrepid reporter uncover who wants her dead and with her heart. Readers will enjoy the antics of the reporter and her super Clark Kent as she works finding the news worth printing while he works saving the newspaper. Harriet Klausner

A very entertaining and great book

"Lois Lane tells all" by Karen Hawkins is an awesome book full of great characters, sweet and sexy moments and many funny and amusing scenes. Susan Collins loves living in small and sleepy Glory and working as editor-in-chief for "The Glory Examiner". Life could be great but sexy and nerdy Mark Tremayne is bringing tension into Susan's life. On the one hand he's trying to tell her how to do her job but on the other hand he is just too much like Clark Kent whom Susan adores. Normally Susan isn't interested in casual and short-time relationships but for Mark she's willing to make an exception. Mark also feels the sparks between them and even though he's only in town for a few months he wants more of Susan than just being colleagues. Like Susan he is not interested in a long-term relationship because Glory is just too small and sleepy for him. But when weird things start to go on in Glory and Susan seems to be in danger Mark can't stand back any longer. What starts as a casual relationship soon feels like so much more for Susan and Mark. But they still have to overcome their different viewpoints to form a relationship that can last longer than just a few months. I absolutly loved reading "Lois Lane tells all". Following "Talk of the town" it's the second book by Karen Hawkins that plays in Glory. I would recommend to read "Talk of the town" before "Lois Lane tells all" but it's not a must. From the beginning of the book I had a smile on my face and couldn't stop laughing until I finished it. Susan and Mark are both great and interesting characters and I enjoyed their arguments and banter a lot. The chemistry between them is palpable from their first scene and becomes more and more sizzling during the book. I also enjoyed reading more about the Murder Mystery Club and the other citizens of Glory. Although there's a mystery in the book it's definitely more romantic than suspenseful. Meeting all the bachelors the town has to offer lets me hope for many more books about Glory. So, all in all I think "Lois Lane tells all" is an amazing book and I spent some very entertaining hours reading it. I can't wait to read more of Glory's citizens and I'm already excited for Ethan's story which will be published next.
