Great Book!!!!

I have an adopted son who comes from a less than desirable background. He came to us with absolutely no confidence in his ability to learn. Trying to get him to be interested in science was no easy task. Joan S. Gottlieb has demonstrated the ability to overcome such challenges with this series of books. Land Animals is a book geared to help a child succeed. Short, simply written, interesting, and informative paragraphs preceed very clear, easy to answer questions. Despite the simplicity of the wording, the information does not have a "dumbed down" feel. It is written to help the learner succeed. Our son flew through this book and now is excited about learning more. He loves sharing new information that he has gleaned from this book with the family and can explain in detail many things that even his older siblings don't know. This book has given motivation for him to research in more depth many of the animals discussed. Whether teaching a child with learning challenges, or just needing a research springboard, this is a wonderful book! I plan to get a couple of more books from this series to continue the learning excitment.
