King of the Hill

Wonderful read. An enlightening true tale of growing up during the depression. Highly recommend this book.

Fabulous Memoir

Coming of Age autobiography of Hotchner as a 12 year old boy in St. Louis during the depression. Great, sad stories told perfectly. If you like this - read Bad Boy by Jim Thompson & Bound For Glory by Woody Guthrie - both take place at the same time & are equally adventuresome & sad.

READ IT!!!!!! :)

Wonderful Book! Great piece of literature, can hardly believe this is a true story! how could he have gone through all of this? Really wonderful book, written from the perspective of a kid (him). This really is a MUST READ

The book was outstanding

I recommend this book to anyone looking for good reading. Hotchner is able to hold your attention throughout the story. He makes the 1930's a pleasure to be a part of.
