Not just for Jews!

If you are Jewish, whether you are very observant or not at all, this book will totally shift your perspective about the power behind the Sabbath. (My husband was furious that this was not taught when he was in Hebrew school!) If you are not Jewish, it's like opening up a whole new world. These are tools that are available to EVERYONE. One caveat - you must read the book with an open mind, an open heart, and a true desire to take control of and responsibility for your life and the world around you. Easy to say, harder to do. The information alone is fascinating, but the key is in putting the tools into action. As we humans are creatures of habit, unless you are already in the rhythm of the Sabbath, taking advantage of the tools provided in this book will take real effort. I have to confess that since reading it, the only change I have made is to light candles each Friday night at the appropriate time. Adding the tools will be a gradual process for me, but it may come easier to others. I really caution anyone reading any of the Kabbalah books to GO SLOWLY and don't try to become a full-blown Kabbalist all at once. As one woman in the center told me, some people remain beginners for 10-15 years. This was very important for me to hear. If you are currently observing the Sabbath, I have no idea how this book will affect your perspective. But if you are observing and feeling that you are going through empty robotic motions and a rote routine, a simple shift in consciousness achieved through the light that shines forth from the pages of this book can change everything. (wow that sounded really corny, too bad it feels like it happens to be true) This may be a strong statement, but I think if open-minded Chassidic rabbis read this book, Chabad would ultimately high-five The Kabbalah Centre and the world would live happily ever after that much sooner.

Kabbalah; On the Sabbath

This is a very helpful book for those starting their journey in Kabbalah, it reveals all you need to know about the power of this particular day of the week, and how to connect to it. It is another in the Kabbalah books written by Rav Yehuda Berg, and is in his easy to read and understand style, a true Rabbi. May your journey be wonderful.

Great Intro

Great introduction to the Consciousness of Shabbat. I oftentimes feel like the tiny books in the "Technology for the Soul" series get repetitive, but I found this book to be very uplifting and informative. Though lacking in explanation over the fine details of observing a Kabbalistic Shabbat, this book was a great reminder for the WHY one observes Shabbat as a Kabbalah student. So whether you're new to the whole experience or if you've been keeping Shabbat for years, pick up this book. It will encourage you and provide a tool to transform your life for the better!
