History comes to life

Reviewed by Brianne Plach (age 9) for Reader Views (3/07) Come along with Jo on a trip to the Cariboo. She has already been a Pony Express rider which has been difficult enough. Now she is disguised as a boy and hired by Emerson. Her boss is not the nicest fellow; he thinks nothing of making Jo and her friend Bart do all the work. If something goes wrong, it's always their fault and not his. What he doesn't realize is that both Bart and Jo have kept secrets from him and from each other. This book has plenty of surprises and exciting adventures. "Jo's Journey" makes history come to life in the exciting Gold Rush times. Note from Brianne's mother: Brianne took this book along to school to read it. She has an interest in history. It is great seeing authors take pieces of history and write books to make learning history fun.
