Well worth it!

Very well written book that will help anyone at any level learn C#. I've read many books on C# and this one is the best - hands down.

Great book

I recently had to get up to speed on C# fast for a graduate course I was taking and I bought this book. I found this book to be a great primer for the language. Coverage of the basics of the language is very throrough; with the one exception of somewhat weak coverage of collections. Oberg's explanations and examples are simple, clear, and to the point throughout the book. By the end of the book Oberg has you coding a multi-threaded banking program, and it barely feels like work! If you are serious about learning to program in C#, get this book!!!

Foundations for OOP, C#, and .NET Framework

This is the only C# book I currently own, but after reading the reader reviews, this one seemed a good choice. It is 2 weeks later, and I have finished going through the book and the downloaded code examples that come along with the book. There is not much I can add to all the praise the other readers have given this author and this book, but let me say, "I agree!".I think this book is the best "Intro to ... " book I've ever read. I needed to not only learn C# and the .NET Framework, but OOP in general. Robert J. Oberg's Introduction to C# Using .NET book teaches all these things in a very natural way that makes it easy. I've learned more reading this book over the past week than I learned in the $1700 5 day Intro to C# class I attended using Microsoft training material.

Best book for learning C#

I purchased 3 books in order to learn C# and learn it fast (this book, Jesse Liberty's "Learning C#", and Klaus Nichelsen's "C# Primer Plus"). Although this book was based on the Beta, this is the best of the three books. Don't get me wrong, I highly recommend all three books for the developer who is coming from Visual Basic 6 or another language. The illustrations in this book are excellent and the author has done a great job writing this book. I did NOT find very many errors, but I have not read any books that did not have any errors. A few errors is expected. This book is one of several 5-star books that Robert Oberg has written and the editing is very good. This book was so very good that I plan to purchase other Robert Oberg books dealing advanced Visual Basic.Net and C# programming. Please note, this is very large book but the reading is easy and won't put you to sleep. The chapters have been divided up nicely. Not to long or not to short.

Precise and clear explaination of the C# language.

This book is very well organized. The explainations of each feature are clear, concise, and easy to understand. The book explains the theory behind each feature in an easy manner to understand, not with tons and tons of codes to skim through. It's a great beginner's book to learning C# and the .NET FrameWork...
