From the very beginning, Christians sought out places that would provide them refuge from persecution, as they began to practice their new faith. They first met in small numbers in homes, such as St. Peter's house in Capernaun in Galilee. There, as history records it, a small room was first used as a meeting place. As the numbers increased, a small room was added on... then a chapel. And so it began.
