Awesome Must Have for Beginning Bible Students

These accounts are written and illustrated in a manner that simplifies and clarifies the scriptures without sacrificing the important details of the story. Additional information with present day knowledge is included in the sidebars to the story adding to the understanding of the scriptures. This book is highly recommended to both adults and children as an introduction to a wealth of basic stories in the Bible. This overview will make the transition into reading these accounts directly from the Bible much easier. The scripture references are written at the top of each story to make them easy to find in the Bible.

Great book,,,very easy to understand!

If you want an easy interpretation of the Bible...this is it. Makes reading to the children very interesting, because it helps all ages understand in very detailed ways what the Bible really means. Everyone should have this book...regardless of age.

Used it on a pilgrimage to Holy Land

We used it on a pilgrimage to The Holy Land, and found it invaluable to ourselves and to others on the tour. Frequently we would refer to it for a simple overview of the sites that we were seeing. Even the priest traveling with us would look at it, for its summations were EXCELLENT!!! I am buying two more copies of it today, one to send to the priest who accompanied us, and one for the nun who also traveled with us. Buy it. It is totally useful and hits the high spots of the Bible clearly and consisely.

Fabulous historical and religious volume

I can't say enough good things about this excellent family bible. Each page is a self-contained story (long accounts like the Exodus are told in several successive stories), in language that is clear to children, yet true to the original. Each story is accompanied by an illustration, and most compelling, a sidebar of historical information. That historical information, the maps which are included, and the clear format, make it an excellent teaching tool, and a great way to interest children in the bible (for example, the page on Moses' discovery among the reeds points out that crocodiles were common in the Nile, and that leaving a baby there was a very risky thing to do.) A great, and informative, volume.
