All time favorite!

I found this book when my son was still only 6 mos old and I loved it, read it to him and now he asks for it every night. It is so sweet and easy to read over and over without going crazy plus I am able to chat with him about being kind during daily life and he immediately recongnized the concept of “how kind”. Thats really all a parent could ever wish for in a book!

Really lovely message of caring and "passing on" kindness

A sort of pay-it-forward for little kids, I love reading this to my kids. While I can respect what the one reviewer said about a hen giving away her egg being strange, I think it's overthinking it a little for the ages this book is meant for. It's really cute too how not all the things the animals give one another are THINGS.. you can DO kind things too (scratch a back, play a game a friend especially likes). That may be my favorite thing about it.. giving isn't just about things. I think this book makes a perfect gift for a baby and young child of any age. The amount of words on each page is not too much, so the pages turn quickly enough to a little one, have different animals which even one year olds start to pick up, has a nice cadence for little babies and of course the message is lovely. HIGHLY recommended for self or a gift.

The importance of being kind

HOW KIND has a wonderful message of doing nice things for others. It's never too early to start teaching a child about kindness. Children pick up selfish habits from so many negative factors in our world, that it's nice to have another book that encourages kindness. This is a very cute book. My son loves it! I often give this book as a gift.

One of my daughter's first favorites

We just love Mary Murphy in this household! One of my daughter's first favorite books was "I Kissed the Baby" by Mary Murphy, and this was right on its heels. The simple pictures were very appealing to her, even as a very young infant. At as young as 6 months, she showed interest in this book, and by 12 months, we'd read it over and over and over again. A simple lesson in kindness for the tiniest kids with enough repetition that they know what to expect next.

This one's a winner!

A favorite at our house for years. The artwork is pretty, the story is fun, and the message -- be generous and help others -- is very welcome. You will not be disappointed by this book. (A+)

What Goes Around Comes Around

This is a great book for children of all ages. The message is simple and straight forward - doing something nice for someone may lead to someone doing something nice for you. My 1 1/2 year old loves the bright and simple artwork that features every 1 1/2 year old's favorite barnyard animals: cow, hen, puppy, cat, pig, etc. It's a short book, fantastic for bed-time, and is sturdily constructed.
