It is a good book so far, came to my house pretty fast

Dreadful Draft.

Not a copy of a real release. This is a galley copy; mistakes abound. I couldn’t finish it, and what I read was basic and pretty awful.

Hocus Pocus & The All-New Sequel Review (Brings Back Memories)

I loved both books. As both a movie and a book, Hocus Pocus is a Halloween story that I feel should be passed down from one generation to the next. It intrigued me to see how the Sanderson sisters face off against both generations of the Dennison's. It's funny how the witches try to make sense of 21st-century technology in the sequel; also, how it takes three evil witches to be brought back from the dead for the main characters to find their courage and romance. Max, Allison, Dani, Thackery, Emily, Poppy, Isabella, and Travis are all great characters who have their own personalities. Not to take away from the three Sanderson sisters whose evilness and desire to suck the life out of all the children in Salem also bring something to the story. Reading this book brought back memories from watching the movie. I enjoyed reading every sentence and would recommend it to anyone. And hey, a Black Flame Candle, a Spell Book, and an Ouija board, what could possibly go wrong on All Hallows' Eve?

It was good and made me feel nostalgic

I have mixed feelings about this book. While I didn’t hate it, I didn’t love it either. I loved the Hocus Pocus part for sure, it kept strictly to the movie narrative and made me feel nostalgic. I really have no problems with the way the author wrote that story. The sequel, however, is where my mixed feelings come in. Things I liked about the sequel: the surprising diversity and LGBTQ+ representation in it, the teenage characters who are caught up in the witches plan, and the cameos of characters we know and love. // Things I didn’t like about it: all of the modern technology woven in, it was clever but not my favorite part of the story; I didn’t like the song numbers either, and maybe if the sequel was a movie they would have worked better. I also didn’t like the changes that were made to the original story that made it possible for the sequel to exist. I won’t say anymore so I don’t give any spoilers, but when you read it you’ll know what I’m talking about. It was a far stretch from the original story, and quite an expansion. I think people will either love it or hate it. I personally didn’t love it, and didn’t hate it either. I’m... feeling natural overall about this book. While it had its sweet moments, the sequel wasn’t as amazing as I had hoped it would be. I found that I liked the characters more than the actual plot of the sequel. It’s worth the read if you’re a Hocus Pocus fan, but in my opinion this sequel just isn’t as magical and amazing as the original movie was - and still is.
