Loved!!!

I absolutely loved this book! Took you through many twists and turns! Also, the ending turned out just the way I wanted!!

Good read

This is probably my 2nd favorite of hers. A good book, nevertheless and worth the purchase and reading.

Loved It!

I wish that Mary Kay Andrews had many other books like this. I couldn't put it down.

Another great one from Andrews

Keeley Murdock catches her fiancé A.J. Jernigan having sex with her best friend/maid of honor Paige @ the rehearsal dinner. After pitching a royal hissy fit the whole wedding is called off. Keeley throws herself into her work and try's to salvage what's left of her pride. However the Jerrigan's decided to put a little financial pressure on Keeley and her family. Soon Keeley and her aunt Gloria find that their interior decorating business is not fairing so well. In comes Will Mahoney who hires Keeley to renovate his antebellum mansion for the woman of his dreams who doesn't even know he exists. Then to add to the mix there is Keeley's friend Austin who is bound and determined to find Keeley's mom who has been missing for more the 20 years. Not one of your average chick lit books. This book is filled with small town politics, laughter, love, adultery, family, great friends, & mystery. All the ingredients needed to make a wonderful book. I would definitely suggest this book to anyone looking for something to read @ the beach!

LOL! LOL! LOL!

What a funny, funny book. The main character is a completely believeable young woman caught in the unfortunate situation of discovering a cheating fiancé the night before the wedding. What's a woman to do? Pitch a fit. Like other Mary Kay Andrews stories, this has an element of fairy tale: in this case, restoring a Southern mansion and having access to unlimited funds. There are also several fairy-tale-like antique buys that had me sighing. And then there is the matter of the perfect bra... A strong sense of place -- of several places, actually -- permeates this light read. If you come away without wanting to visit rural Georgia and several locations of flea markets in the South, you will not have been paying attention. In all these places readers meet up with deftly drawn characters, people you would certainly recognize on the street. The mystery at the heart of the story solves itself in the reader's mind with at least a third of the book to go. But the places and people kept me engaged and laughing out loud until I turned the last page.

I read this in one sitting

Keely Murdoch's life is all set. She is a successful interior designer, with her work published in several magazines, and she is marrying a handsome wealthy banker in the morning, after she gets through this nightmare rehearsal dinner. When a drunken guest gives her a margarita shower, she rushes off to clean up. As she passes the boardroom door, she hears the distinctive sounds of her fiance and her maid of honor "doing it" inside, she opens the door, catches them in the act and throws a hissy fit that will go down in the history of Madison, Georgia. Naturally, the wedding is off, but for some reason, everyone except for her family and a few others, blame Keely. To top it all off, the family of the almost groom are trying to run her and her aunt out of business. Into this mess walks, Will Mahoney. He has bought the local bra plant and plans to bring it back to prosperity. He has also bought a local plantation house and wants Keely to restore and decorate it for him and his future bride. The problem is, he hasn't actually met her yet and doesn't exactly know her tastes. He saw her on a PBS pledge drive and fell in love. Since the Murdochs business is not exactly booming, they take on the job and its crazy deadline and get to work. The plots, subplots and characters of the novel are all wound together wonderfully. I love the southern setting and the quirky characters of the story. They all seem very real. This story has it all, humor, romance, mystery and a great cast of characters.

A Quirky Satire of Class, Etiquette & Southern Sensibilities

If, on the night before your wedding, while celebrating at the rehearsal dinner with all your closest friends and family, you happened upon your husband-to-be having sex with your maid-of-honor, what would you do? Well, if you're Keeley Murdock, you'd throw a whopper of a hissy fit. So starts HISSY FIT, by Mary Kay Andrews. Keeley becomes the talk of Madison, Georgia when she not only cancels her wedding 24 hours before the big event, but also trashes her father's club on the night she discovers her fiancé's infidelity. Her ex's family --- embarrassed that Keeley has dumped him, wealthy, influential and incredibly vengeful --- begins to play havoc with Keeley's professional reputation as a high-end interior designer. As jobs start to disappear, Keeley and her aunt begin to despair that they will be ruined. But, hey, this is the South, and the kindness of strangers abounds. The new guy in town --- the redheaded stranger who bought the dilapidated bra factory --- hires Keeley to revive a run-down, antiquated mansion in just six months! The task is Herculean, but Keeley's reputation is at stake, so she dives in. Little did Keeley know that the new job and the kind stranger would lead to a mystery at the heart of the town. With Mary Kay Andrews's trademark sense of humor, HISSY FIT is a funny and quirky satire of class, etiquette and southern sensibilities. A hilarious lead character, combined with the hints of a mystery and lavish and luxurious decorating hints, make for another hit from Andrews. --- Reviewed by Roberta O'Hara
