Determination Of The Love They Had For Each Other

Memorable after many years

I was feeling sentimental today, so I looked this book up to see if I could purchase a copy of a story that moved me so many years ago. Lo and behold.. Some of the reviewers here are right on the mark when they describe how immensely beautiful and yet, how immensely tragic, this story is, so I won't go into the same detail they already have. I concur with their reviews! ;>

I will say that Bittner's story is not for the faint-hearted, as the lovers certainly endure many hellish encounters as they attempt to find love and their own identities in a bitter society during a pivotal time in American history.

I can't believe the asinine & ignorant comments made by some other reviewers.. especially "Hillcat"- what is she? Twelve? Granted, I read this book 15 years ago, but I remember nothing regarding.. um.. cats(!??). In fact, after 15 years and stacks and stacks of books later, I find that the most predominate memory I have of Bittner's novel is the fondness that I still hold for it.

Also, you'll get nooky here as in most romances, but if you're looking for fantasy, look elsewhere! Bittner's historical references are well-documented in many other respectable outside sources. It's not rocket science, but if you're not up to learning just a little bit of history within the context of a beautiful love story, don't bother with this treasure..

Adam and Andrea

I had this book once and my father sold it with a table full for 20.00 10 years ago. Well I finally found a copy and bought it! I loved this story back then, and I love it today, 10 years later.Adam and Andrea are young teenagers (Adam 16 and Andrea 14) in love before the Congress demands Cherokee Indian Removal in Georgia. Not only do we get to see Adam and Andrea's love blossom, but also last and endure through the hardships all Indian's faced as the "Trail of Tears" happens, all the way to Indian hardships in the western Indian Territory, and every across the borders to white slavery in Mexico. We even get to see their love come full circle in the end! It's a love story mixed in with well documented history of how the Georgia Militia and the state of Georgia itself as well as Congress treated the Indians before, during and after the "Trail of Tears".If you want a very well rounded story of romance in historical times GET THIS BOOK! It will make you laugh, cry and LOVE. F. Rosanne Bittner creates main characters in her stories that you love and villans that you love to hate. She uses well-documented history and quotes as a backdrop for her stories.

Tragedy of Heart's Surrender

Heart's Surrender is a novel focusing on the removal of Indians from Georgia and the struggle the Cherokee's went through. It becomes evident who the true savages were and how bad the Indians were treated.Adam and Andrea's struggle through the Indian Removal tells of their breathtaking love for each other and how love can overcome all the heartache surrounding them.References are also made to the 'Trail of Tears' which is full of despair itself.Heart's Surrender reflects how strong the Indian's spirit or soul is and how everything around them is sacred. If you like a well structured romance novel capturing the love of 2 people who would go through anything as long as they have each other along with references to what happened to the native americans during this tragic era then this is the novel for you?

extremely beautiful and historically accurate

This book was the best "historical romance" I have ever read!! What impressed me the most about it was the accurate historical facts of Cherokee history used in this touching story. Personally, I love studying Cherokee history and Rosanne's knowledge of Cherokee history really impressed me in this book. (You see, the location of this book, is where I grew up!) One cant help but get involved in Andrea and Adam's lives and you feel so much for them. In my heart, I know that this love story actually happened to many people during the time of the "removal" in early America's dark past. I felt happiness, got angry and cried, and have read it 3 times! I JUST WANT TO SAY GREAT BOOK ROSANNE, GIVE US A SIMILAR ONE PLEASE- USING THE NEW ECHOTA CHARACTERS AGAIN!

BEST BITTNER BOOK EVER!

This was the very first book I ever read from this author and I literally cried on some parts, it was so touching and heart wrenching. The unbelievable story between the hero and heroine keep you turning the pages until its over. This book is full of adventure and rich in Cherokee history. The love story between Andrea and Adam is so sweet and touching it will bring tears to your eyes and make you fall in love with Adam and Andrea. The things he suffers makes you wish you could step into the book and help him. I HIGHLY recommend this book. Rosanne's writing is superb. She brings her characters to life, and the history and surroundings. Even though it's out of print now, track a copy of this book down, it's a must read.
