This one will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Lori Lake has done it again. Bravo! Have Gun We'll Travel is the third book in her Dez Reilly/Jaylynn Savage series, and folks, they just keep getting better. It is an absolutely riveting novel you will not be able to put down. Fine writing, and a stunningly gripping, edge of your seat, story all combine to make this novel a winner. The plot is multi layered, but so well-structured and so 'tight' that it flows beautifully with each chapter drawing you to the next. Highly recommended.

A Master of the Craft

Lori L. Lake's latest book is a great read! It's creative, well-researched, gripping, and emotional, but rather than reiterate what other reviewers have already stated, I'll focus my comments on another aspect of the book. Readers can always count on Lori to deliver a book that is WELL WRITTEN! Lori is a master of the craft whose writing improves with each new book. Clearly she is a student of the art of prose, and her gift with words makes all her books a pleasure to read. I never find myself distracted by grammatical mistakes, sentence fragments or run-ons, or errors of any kind. She's meticulous about clean, effective prose and her attention to detail is reflected in books of extraordinary quality. If you enjoy reading a good story that is also well written, look no further than Lori L. Lake! Maya Indigal, author of Until Soon

Portland Connection Reviews

What I liked about this book was the way the action never stopped, and from scene to scene, you couldn't tell for sure what would happen next. The villains are well-described. The setting is absolutely terrific! The plot is believable. I could literally hear the voices, feel the pounding on the trails, smell the convicts, and see everything so vividly that the book felt like it was really happening. That's a sign of good writing if you ask me. I also like the fact that our two heroines, Dez Reilly and Jaylynn Savage, continue to grow and change as this third installment shows. After Under the Gun was over, I wondered where Lori Lake would take the series, and I was floored by the power of this thriller. I just didn't expect it to be so emotional and so wild! I highly recommend this book. I don't get a chance to read all that much, but I make room for Lori L. Lake books, and this is one novel that you just shouldn't miss.

Dynamic! Suspenseful! A Must Read!

The saga of Dez Reilly and Jaylynn Savage, two characters first introduced to readers in the fantastic book Gun Shy, then again in the terrific Under the Gun, continues in this dramatic, action-packed, suspense-filled tale. Dez, Jaylynn and two of their friends, one a fellow police officer, take off on what is supposed to be a relaxing, fun filled camping trip in the woods. Unbeknownst to them, there has been a breakout from the penitentiary near where they are camping. As luck would have it, Jaylynn suddenly and unexpectedly finds herself "held hostage" and taken on the run with the escapees. Dez, full of rage and anger, almost goes ballistic while trying to get loose and preventing Jaylynn from being taken. After taking the camper's clothes and tying them up, the escapees begin their long trek to a destination only known to one of them. Which one knows where they are going? And why did he kidnap the other prisoner during the break? Finally freeing themselves, Dez, and her friends Crystal (the other police officer) and Crystal's partner Shayna hurriedly form a plan. Dez takes off after the escapees while Crystal and Shayna head for the authorities. Will Dez be too late and unable to save another partner? Will she be able to find the clues that Jaylynn has managed to leave? Can Jaylynn herself, keep her wits about her and lend assistance in her own rescue? And will unexpected players in the game help or hinder in this rescue? Although continuing the tale began in the previous two books, Have Gun, We'll Travel is very much a book more than capable of standing on its on. You will find yourself feeling every heartrending, frantic moment as Dez desperately pursues the trail of Jaylynn's kidnappers. You feel like you are experiencing her every emotion as she pushes herself beyond all physical endurance. Emotions ranging from anger then rage, fear, desperation and exhaustion. Lori Lake is a tremendously talented writer and displays that fact, once again, in this dynamic, well-written story of love, determination, personal strength and the unexpected events that can often time take place in life.

Great action, thrilling chase, solid writing

People who loved Dez Reilly and Jaylynn Savage, the police duo created by best-selling author Lori L. Lake, will be enthralled by this third book in Lake's "Gun" Series. Still solid partners, the two embark with friends Crystal and Shayna on a quiet hike in the Minnesota forests. Prison escapees turn the hike into a life-wrenching ordeal when they kidnap Jaylynn. As Jaylynn uses sharp wits to foil the kidnappers at every turn, Dez calls on brute strength to hunt them down, and heavy rainstorms impede friend and foe alike. With desperate prison escapees, traitorous law enforcement, and foreign mobsters taking part in the chase, the story keeps you on the edge of your seat, wanting to read faster than your eyes can move. The action is complex, but thoroughly grounded in detail and completely believable. One of Lake's strengths is her deft characterization and she does not disappoint. Her people bring the story to life. You care about them, hate them, or sympathize with them, but an emotion is always drawn from you; you relate. The prose is stronger, tighter, and more intense than Lake's previous books, and she makes the leap from romance to action-suspense with mastery, landing solidly on both feet. Action-suspense is my favorite genre, and I welcome the addition of Have Gun We'll Travel to my library. You'll welcome it to yours, too.
