ANOTHER TERRORIST KIDNAP OPERATION FOR PHOENIX FORCE
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 17 years ago
Following on the heels of the Book 1 this Book 2 has a similar plot, people kidnapped by terrorists. In this case it is even more extreme for the victims, as they have just been released from several months of torture only to be re-kidnapped by another splinter group of the original group. Whereas the initial episode of these unfortunates happened in Boliva, this 2nd kidnapping is happening in Paraguay with intent to embarass that country's president. The Phoenix Force team quickly springs into action, triggered by a phone call from Mack Bolan, moving from Miami to several parts of Paraguay, then reassembling again near Conception at a river hideout of these reprehensible terrorists. An early episode has the leader, Chama, pulling every other tooth from a woman captive using only a large set of pliers. She had spit on him, and he ruthlessly reacts by telling her women do not spit on men. After she is tied down sans anestheia, Chama joyfully begins his torture, savagely removing every other tooth both top and bottom. You know that when Phoenix Force arrives, ole Chama is in for a payoff. This second book in the series reads very well, holding one's interest, surprisingly so, as I wasn't sure I was up for another kidnap episode directly following the first book. But getting into the book is easy and the story is even better than its predecessor. Two thumbs up for this book. Love those early GOLD EAGLE books of Phoenix Force and Able Team that gave way to the STONY MAN books that continue to roll off the presses today. Semper Fi.
