This book caught my eye because of the beautiful and dark illustrations. They are all of various dark winter night landscapes and have a feeling of mystery and awe to them. The story is interesting as well. It personifies winter giving it a face, a shape, a touch etc. It is somewhat pantheistic i.e. it says winter "hears even the beat of our hearts". But I don't think it is too over the top. I would read it several times for the enjoyment of the illustrations but the story is great as well.
