Very helpful!

This is a great reference about not only ways you should try to control the tongue but why. It really puts things into perspective; not only in a biblical sense, but in a modern day sense. I love R.T. Kendall's works, and this one is another work of his that I would highly recommend.

Pretty good content not your average faire

I'm not super crazy about this author as a whole i.e. all his books but books on this subject are rare and the information is cogent and not just the "common sense" dissapointment like some can be. Worth buying but I prefer the actual book to the download which is hard to skim and scan though.

Fundamental Read for Every Christian

Christians must communicate. This books explains how in a way that is effective and pleasing to God. RT Kendall writes short chapters in everyday vernacular and does not sugarcoat. I actually taught this class chapter-by-chapter for 3 months to seasoned & mature Christians of all age groups and found myself learning more than my students! What brought the important messages of 1) knowing the power of your words and 2)using the fruit of self-control to harness the flaming tongue, home for me, was that the author himself has made every mistake possible with his mouth! His heart to help prevent us from making the same mistakes and realize that we will be held accountable for our words resounds in every chapter, which makes this an easy book to teach and learn from. Also, he backs up the importance of tongue control with many examples throughout Scripture and in specific Bible characters; which makes the knowledge found in this book irrefutable. This book is well written, thorough, easy to read, easy to teach and fundamental to your growth as a Christian. Every church member should read it, every Apostle, Evangelist, Teacher, Prophet, Pastor, Leader, Deacon, Church Office Staff, should have it on their bookshelf. Well done, R.T.! After this, you should read Bruce Wilkinson's, "Prayer of Jebez", "Secret of the Vine", "A Life God Rewards" and "Dream Giver"; "Total Forgiveness" by R.T. Kendall, "Give it Back!" by Kimberly Daniels, "Bait of Satan" by John Bevere, "Purpose Driven Life" by Rick Warren, "A Tale of Three Kings" by Gene Edwards, "Fasting" by Jentezen Franklin, "Under Cover" by John Bevere, and "Total Money Makeover" by Dave Ramsey. As a Leader, I just read these books over and over again and get new "meat" each time!
