Fanciful...

Obviously, this book is a little far-fetched. And I did have some misgivings about young teenagers running off to see a concert, and going with men who are total strangers. I prefer to look at this book as a cautionary tale - basically what not to do. It is very entertaining, and the characters are somewhat relateable. I believe that certain incidents that may occur in real teenage life are included and exaggerated to make for a good read, and as a crystal-clear warning, that the characters' actions are not to be copied. All in all, I love the whole series, and I recommend the book to anyone who thinks that their petty problems are the most horrific in the world - because Ellie's are way worse.

Very Late!!!

Ellie goes to the mall on a normal day with her two best friends and happens to meet this eleventh grade boy called Russell in McDonalds and they stay out very very late. Now, though this may be romantic to some of the people, I think it is also very freaky, but it is very realistic that's what I like very much about this series, and the coincidences that happen between Russell and Ellie, stuff like misunderstanding Russell stood Ellie up, and Russell's school dance colliding with the Claudie concert Ellie is going with Magda and Nadine can really happen. I just think that the first two chapters are just far too hopeless and staying in the park with a guy you don't know is kind of dangerous, but the end is connected to real life and the decisions were smart and makes a nice story.

For fans of Georgia Nicholson and Alice McKinley

In this latest installment in the English series about chubby Ellie, boy-crazy Magda, and elegant Nadine, a lighter issue is the focus of the plot: curfews. Ellie at last has a real boyfriend, but her desire to meet with him is stronger than the desire to get home on time, much to the frustration and worry of her father and young stepmother. A subplot of a crush on the new art teacher is sweet and easy to relate to.Woodson's engaging heroine is the everygirl equivalent to Phyllis Reynolds Naylor's Alice character, with a British accent and slightly less talk about bodily function. All slang is easily comprehended in context, eliminating the need for a glossary. Darling Ellie is both smarter and more PC than Georgia Nicholson, and there is humor and high drama here as well as fairly normal girls who just want to be loved. The attractive compact size, low price and catchy covers equal more bang for the buck - once your Alice fans get hold of these, you may need multiple copies. Other titles address anorexia and dating violence. Highly recommended for middle school and up collections.

Totally COOL!!!!!

Hi1 This book, as part of a trilogy along with girls under pressure and girls in love, was the best of the three, it was absolutely brilliant, I loved it and i think theat it is suitable for girls aged 12+ and it relates to problems that all or most girls experiance during their teenage years.
