Do Youself a Favor: Just Buy It

If you're reading this review, you might fit the following bill: 1. You're a newbie mechanic. 2. You don't have every tool ever made. 3. You want to work on your own car to save money, as a hobby, or both. 4. You don't want to get killed while working on your car. If that description is accurate, you can't go wrong with the Haynes manual for Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable. This book will help you go from being scared of even touching something under the hood to really feeling comfortable making repairs on your own. You will learn the tools you need for each job so that you will always have the tools you need and never have any that you never use. Yes, you will learn some basic under-the-hood safety that will let you feel comfortable under the hood. You will be shown a basic repair schedule to follow that will keep up with everything from windshield wiper fluid, brake fluid, engine coolant, oil, and power steering fluid, to automatic transaxle fluid, spark plugs, air filters, pcv valve, under hood hoses, fuel filter, and everything else. For the newbie mechanic, this maintenance schedule allows you to ease into repairs and preventative measures. As other reviewers have said, this book could use some more pictures. However, I haven't found anything to seriously be lacking from this manual. Enjoy!

Very good instruction of where and how to check

I have read Clinton's book before that shows only pix and how to disassemble. So I haven't exepect much. ( You may read some review on that book. ) However this book explains which part and how to check it. For instancem using multimeter( voltage ). So the reader may find where is the problem by himself. I have read only part of this book ( where my car has problem ) , I am sure this will help a lot. I strongly recommend to the person who want to find the problem and repair it by himself.

Better than expected

The book was packaged in plastic at an automotive store.I have seen some sad efforts over the years but this one was a pleasant suprise. There were lots of clear photo's and clearwiring diagrams. Spec's and maintenance information for the weekend mechanic were satisfactory. Most of the content wasdirectly related to this model. My last ford shop manual wasa 2 star effort so this was a good value for me.
