Food (DK Eyewitness Books) Not only is this book great for kids who want to learn about how the body needs certain nutrients, but it's also great for adults who need to spruce up their diet. It teaches us about every aspect of food from the farm to the sewer, literally! After looking at the section about how animals are turned into food with my son, I'm not so sure he will be eating much meat anymore. I don't think he realized his chicken nuggets came from real chickens...lol.

Introduction to Healthy Eating

FOOD has page after page of gorgeous color pictures of food, traditional feasts, markets and foods with cultural significance. There are micrographs of a vitamin C Crystal and pictures of a food that could be your last meal if it is not prepared correctly. I think I will be avoiding Fugu although I think some people get a rush from eating potentially poisonous delicacies. A few of the main chapters: Calories Food Guide Pyramid Choosing Healthy Foods Carbohydrates Fiber Good Fats, Bad Fats Protein Vitamins Minerals Allergies and Toxins Digestion and Absorption The authors also delve into food as it relates to culture and belief.
