ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS

I am from Chicago, and after borrowing this book from the library so we could enjoy our staycation this summer, I just couldn't live without it and had to purchase one myself. My children and I just love the depth and variety of the information here (although it does not list our favorite sushi restaurant!) With it, we have gone everywhere from Evanston's lighthouse, to the Ba'hai temple, to the various great museums the city has to offer (including the Chicago Historical on a free day!) and it hasn't felt like we've been deprived in any way. This book is the perfect recipe (if not remedy) for the crap economy. We go somewhere new every weekend and the kids are never bored and cranky, so neither are we! SUPER GUIDE!

GET THIS GUIDE

This is the most "up-to date" guide that we used. We also liked it because of the HIGHLIGHTS section in each category and for the excellent maps. We carried this guide with us the whole week.

Great information!

I took my first trip to Chicago with this book and will buy one for each new city I visit. Fantastic suggestions - including hitting major spots - depending on how many days you are there. LOVED the detailed information on the less-well-known spots. Great source of information on art and music districts.

Concise, accurate, useful

I grew up in Chicago but haven't been back for 20 years. So, when I was assigned to Chicago to open a new business, I bought a few guides, this was one of them. While not intended to be an absolutely complete guidebook (ala the Fodors gold series) it does a good job of listing the top restaurants (by cuisine), top hotels (by price) top entertainment spots (by type) and top 25 sights to see. I especially liked the brevity of this feature because it helped me focus on the most important museums , entertainment and other features of the city. Every listing has a location, nearest mass transit stop, and map coordinates that match the city map that is included with the package. If you're looking for a simple but very useful guide, this is the one.

Very thorough guide about a city loaded with things to do and see. I found this guide to be not only informative but also quite accurate-something one can appreciate when rediscovering their city. Excellent for first-time visitors as well. Highly recommended!
