EAR me," said Polly, "I don't see wherever she can be, Jasper. I've searched just everywhere for her." And she gave a little sigh, and pushed up the rings of hair under her sailor cap. "Don't worry,... This description may be from another edition of this product.

Oh, I love these books!

Hello. My name is Michael and I am 10. I am writing a review of this book on my older sister's new Kindle 2. Her name is Hannah (bear with me, we'll get to the review in a minute) and she is typing (and correcting) this while I dictate. So if there are any typos blame it on her. See I told you we would get here! This book takes place in Europe in the 19th century. Even though the title is the "Five Little Peppers Abroad" don't let that fool you. Only two of the five little Peppers go abroad and UNfortunately they are the two girls (Polly and Phronise). How they get Polly out of Mary, I don't get. Hannah is telling me that it goes from Mary to Molly and then Molly to Polly but whatever! Anyways, Jasper and Tom (the grandson of an English earl) are boys, as so helpfully pointed out by "Mirandy's sister". They are my favorite characters in this book. The others that go abroad are Mr. King, Mamsie, Dr. Fisher (who, I should mention, is also awesome) and Parson and Mrs. Henderson. I still don't get why they came. I really don't know what the heck kind of a name Parson is, though. It's almost as wierd as Peletiah! (his unlucky son who, along with his brother Ezekiel, has to stay at home with his horrid aunt Jerusha.) Anyway, sorry about the bunny tral. Getting back to the book. I liked this book even though I still wish that Ben, Joel, and Davie (the other three Peppers) would have gone. But oh well. I still enjoyed it and I'm sure you will too. I'm tired and want to go to sleep now since it is 11:40 pm. Bon nuit (pronounced bon wee that means "good night" in French. I hate French class!) P.S. I want J.T. to win Survivor! (the awesome reality show on CBS) Go J.T.!!! Michael

Five Little Peppers Abroad

I am 79 years old and am now purchasing all the Pepper books for my Great-Grandchildren. I read the Five Little Peppers and How they Grew as a youngster--wonderful, warm family stories. We need all the positive images in today's world---lets fill our reading time with positive material.

Doing the Grand Tour of Europe the Old-Fashioned Way

At the end of Five Little Peppers Midway, the girls, Mr. and Mrs. Fisher, Jasper, and Grandpa King are leaving for a voyage to Europe. This is the story of their journey, from shipboard acquaintances with a rude English boy and with a social-climbing classmate of Polly's and her mother, to sightseeing in England, France, Holland, and Italy. Although the Peppers are as effusive as ever, this is a wonderful portrait of what it was like to do "the Grand Tour" of Europe back in the last 1800s, unfortunately complete with stereotypes, but true to life with the danger of bad hotels and food and strenuous travel.
