Great...depending on where you're coming from!

Ok, after reading the reviews I was pretty scared about reading this book, but since I have always been a fan of more 70s/80s work, I decided to give it a try. Let me say, the reviews were grossly exaggerated! If you like your books to be written by 21st century standards, then you will hate this book, but if you're willing to accept that there was a different mentality in medieval times, then this book will be pretty romantic. Graelem does cheat and rape his wife once, not that I'm condoning it, but back then it was not rape. Second, aside from a few incidents, he does NOT verbally or emotionally abuse her, heck, it was Kassia who decked him several times, and not once did he ever even consider retaliating. I also want set the record straight on Graelem's feelings, which do not develop from one page to the next. He cares for her from the moment he thinks she is dying and is ridiculously gentle with her when he finds out she is alive; he does not reject her and immediately announces her as his wife despite Kassia's appearance at his betrothal party to another woman. I have read many "bodice-rippers" where the alpha hero was a jackass throughout 95% of the book, and compared to them Graelem was a pretty tame pussycat. As I said before, your opinion on this book depends on how you like your romances. To me, this book was amazing and I thought Graelem and Kassia were a damn good couple!

Wonderful, and as always, Humorous!

Before I read Fire Song, I read Warrior's Song (another excellent book) and Fire Song made me laugh just as hard. Although at times you'll feel this over powering urge to knock Graelam's head into a tree, this is a book worth reading! And besides, Graelam just grew up learning different morals, cut him some slack. Anyways, this book is superb, and, as always, wonderfully written! You'll be besotted by the intricate characters and the brilliant page-turning plot! ^^

Fire Song - 5 stars page turner

I really love this book. Graelam de Moreton is a very ... rogue and Kassia is so cute and fragile. As I read it, I now and then secretly sent my encoragement to help Kassia prove herself innocent from betrayal and deceit and I felt relieved when the plot straightens and Lord Graelam eventually relizes that he loves Kassia and his love for her is so strong that he cares not whether she is a liar or not. This story has many exciting twists and turns to keep you turning the pages. Fire Song also introduces Dienwald de Fortenberry who will appear as the main character in the next book 'Earth Song'. I would highly recommend this book to all of you who are strong fans of historical romance.

A terrific large print romance novel by a master writer.

Lord Graelam de Moreton was a hard and ruthless warrior who took what he wanted and never looked back. Kassia de Lorris of Brittany is gentle, yielding, untested in the ways of men, and cheats death only to find herself wedded to a stranger at the behest of her father. Kassia is prepared to pledge obeisance to the Lord Graelam, and Graelam is willing to accept her as innocent and guileless. But a sudden, unexpected event would cast Kassia as having betrayed him, and Kassia must prove otherwise! Ably written by a seasoned and accomplished author, Fire Song is a very highly recommended large print romance that would grace any public library collection.

One of my favorite Coulter books

Catherine Coulter has a gift of drawing you into the stories and making you feel the frustration of the heroine, Kassia, and the stubbornness of the hero, Graelam. This book is great, and is best when viewed as part of it's trilogy- with Earth Song and Secret Song.
